Without a doubt, Mexican has to be one of my all-time favorite world cuisines (coming a close second after Thai ofcourse!). I discovered Muchachas many months ago as Holiday Inn Express is literally at the back-door of my workplace.

The bright turquoise interiors, complete with cacti, Mexican sombreros and cantina-style minimalist furnishings is all at once eclectic, exotic and welcoming, and my colleagues are a little weary of the number of times I praise them for their tacos.

Carnival by Tresind, the younger, spunkier sister of Tresind, Dubai’s leading Indian fine-dining restaurant, is always full of surprises. True to its name, the interiors depict a crazy-cool wonderland where trees branch out in illusive shades of rose-gold, quirky Indian artifacts dot every corner, and guests are welcomed on their table with a shower of bubbles.

Carnival by Tresind has recently introduced a set brunch menu, which is valid every Friday from 12 to 4 pm. We were there a week ago, and the place was absolutely packed! Living in Dubai, we are spoilt for choice with brunching options, but here’s 10 very good reasons why you should consider booking a table at Carnival by Tresind this coming weekend:

Tucked away in a very scenic corner of Rixos The Palm (on The Palm Jumeirah) is a fascinating new foodie getaway; El Chiringuito. Quintessentially designed to look like a dreamy Mexican enclave, complete with bougainvillea-draped corners and breath-taking views of the vividly blue Mediterranean sea, this brand new addition to the Dubai foodie scene is already being listed as one of the most happening hot-spots of the city.

Last weekend, we were invited to try out their La Familia brunch, and absolutely fell in love with the chilled out vibes of the place.

The La Familia brunch runs from 12 noon to 4 pm every weekend, with packages ranging from AED 395 to 695, inclusive of champagne. But let me take you through the gastronomic Mediterranean-style menu we were served… wholesome, beautifully plated, and lip-smackingly delicious!

There are brunches, and then there are ‘drunches’. If you are looking for a seriously good ‘drunch’, you really have to make your way to Indie at DIFC.

With its industrial-style interiors, retro vibes and smooth Indie music adding the right kind of vibes to your Saturday afternoon, Indie is a hidden gem I’ve only recently discovered.

One of my all-time favorite comfort foods has to be Avo on Toast. I love smashed avocado on a slice of rye, sprinkled with salt and pepper. On other occasions, I add a poached egg to make the meal all the more substantial, but never have I had it the way they do it in Pantry Cafe.

Pantry Cafe has long been my recluse from a crazy, stressed out day at work. It’s just a few minute’s drive from the office, and has the perfect chic cafe ambiance for catching up with the girlfriends.

We sip on their healthful smoothies and juxtapose the superfood overload with crisp, golden fries. They also do a wicked Soy Latte here that I’d highly recommend. However, my all-time favorite item off the Pantry Cafe menu has to be their Avocado on Toast.

We are slowly but surely heading into alfresco dining weather, and what better way to spend an idle Friday afternoon than brunching in a garden setting, complete with views of the sea?

I had the pleasure of being invited for the First Year Anniversary of Kempinski Ajman’s Friday Garden Brunch last week, and had a lovely time mingling with like-minded foodies and sampling the elaborate spread, complete with stunning outdoor views and entertainment for little ones.

Fridays are brunch days. After a grueling week of work, its that day of the week when the entire household rises just before noon. By this hour, its too late for breakfast yet a little too early for lunch. Either do brunch at home (which usually consists of greasy plates of hash browns, runny eggs, sausage and a copious amount of red beans), or we head out for our cusp of a meal someplace new.

Brunching has made a permanent mark in the dining-out fabric of Dubai, and last weekend we were fortunate enough to be invited for ‘The Art of Brunch’ at none other than Movenpick Hotel, Bur Dubai. This establishment is one of Dubai’s oldest 5-star properties, and its old-world charm and very central location still attracts a varied mix of tourists all year round.

Yet the majority of the guests at The Art of Brunch were local residents like us. We all like a chilled out Friday, and when we got there, the place was absolutely packed!

Hooray! We are finally counting down to the weekend! Where are you heading this Friday? If you’re looking at spending quality time with the family over a leisurely brunch, the spread at Sufra might prove to be a great choice.

Sufra is the Hyatt Regency’s all-day dining restaurant specializing in Mediterranean dishes. However, their Friday Brunch is not restricted to Arabic food. They have favorites from around the globe, and give diners the opportunity to taste a number of dishes from the  restaurants from within Hyatt Regency itself.

Just a week after I wrote a post entitled ‘3 Weekend Brunches Your Kids Will Love‘, we found ourselves at the Mazina Superhero Brunch at The Address Marina (Dubai), and I think this one definitely tops that list! Centrally located with a sprawling space extending to both indoor and outdoor seating, Mazina takes on the avatar of superheroes every Saturday between 12 noon to 3.30 pm.

Happy Thursday! The countdown to the weekend has begun 🙂 Where are you brunching this weekend? For me, weekends have always been a family affair and I therefore prefer a place that keeps my little munchkin in mind. Here is a rundown of some of the fabulous kid-friendly brunches I have had the pleasure of trying (and that are highly recommended by my 5 year-old as well!).
