If you are following me on Instagram, you might have seen my stories showcasing my experience at The Grove Salons at JLT, Dubai. I don’t think I’ve had such a detailed chat about my hair as I did with their hair magician Cherizeh Gadhiali. She didn’t just give my hair a new color, but brought it to life with a special state of the art Kerastase treatment that gave my dried up ends some much needed TLC.

Loving my new ‘Matte Blonde’ color. Its less on the brazen orange and more on an earthy muted, nearly green tone that seems to work well with my tanned complexion.

I’ve always been fascinated by perfumists. They are artists who hold an invisible easel, and are guided by a gifted nose.

At the recent Sephora Middle East Spring 2019 Multi-Brand event, I was fascinated by the ‘By Kilian’ booth. Loud neon lit-up letters shot out a bold question, “What’s Your Kind Of Love?” This heady title is a teaser to a brand new range of eau de parfums entitled ‘My Kind Of Love’ by master perfumist Kilian Hennessy.

For the longest time I’ve come to believe that washing my face with soap is a big skincare no-no. Commercial soaps tend to be harsh on delicate facial skin, stripping it of precious oils.

However, I was recently introduced to the concept of hand-made soaps, free of nasty parabans and SLS, and loaded with skin-loving ingredients that are good enough even for tender baby skin. Just look at the gorgeous hamper I received from home-grown brand SoulPure Soaps!

Skincare derived from natural ingredients is not a passing fad, but should be incorporated as a way of life. Sadly most organic beauty brands come with hefty price tags. I was therefore thrilled to discover the very affordably priced, high-quality WoMn Cosmetics.

WoMn Cosmetics is an Abu Dhabi-based natural beauty brand conceptualized and created by Croatian pharmacologist Goran Vestermajer. The name of the brand is dedicated to his beautiful wife and business partner Nena, and stands for ‘Wife Of Mine Nena’.

For centuries, women have been turning to nature for reliable beauty rituals, ones enriched with the power of natural ingredients that have only recently been hyped by marketing gurus in the beauty industry. DSC_4981

I for one love to experiment with churning up my own recipes. At other times, I explore the shelves of commercial counters. But then I discovered Green Chic, a UAE-based online shopping site that does the homework for you… the site curates interesting natural beauty brands in one place, all affordably priced and delivered all across the UAE.

But why turn to natural beauty products? What’s new in the market? And what makes GreenChicME.com a great site to shop at? Today I introduce you to the very lovely Vila Vasoodaven who gives us an insight on all this and more…

In a market submerged with brands, only a few stand the test of time. And then there are those that manifest a sense of patriotism by embedding themselves into their adopted home of the Middle East. Such brands are as rare as precious gems, and the one that tops my list has to be Ajmal Perfumes.

With a history dating back to 1950, I have a special connection with this brand as like me, Ajmal Perfumes roots back to Assam, the North Eastern state of India.

What’s not to love about Lush? This British natural beauty brand is an icon in its own right. Apart from their gorgeous range (which you can sniff down a mile away!), I love Lush for their philanthropic stance.

Lush has always gone the extra mile to showcase their love for the environment. From urging customers to recycle their famous Lush pots (take 5 empty pots back and get a free fresh face mask!) and their very artistically done up interiors made of reclaimed eco-friendly material (click here for more on that), I have always loved the concept of the Lush wraps.

Atelier-Flou, the luxury fragrance brand originating from France, has made its debut into the UAE and GCC market this summer, and I had the pleasure of having a brief chat with the founder of the brand, Jean-François Cabos himself!

Atelier-Flou follows the age-old principles of perfumery, using the rarest of natural ingredients. The brand does not follow trends, it does not try to astonish or stand out. Rather, it lives by the principles of subtlety and elegance and prides itself for its unmatched quality. Read on for more on Atelier-Flou from the maker himself.
