Kiehl’s, the leading skincare brand hailing from New York, has had a long-standing affiliation with the artist community. Each year, the brand revamps the packaging of its most-loved products into limited editions based on the works of noted artists. Past partnerships include the likes of Jeff Koons, Kenny Scharf, Eric Haze and Craig & Karl.

This year, Kiehl’s has collaborated with sixties pop artist Peter Max. Inspired by the art legend’s acclaimed work “The Cosmic Runner” this season’s limited-edition packaging perfectly embodies Kiehl’s energetic spirit, and make for uniquely beautiful holiday gifting.

Who doesn’t like a box full of surprises? Box Therapy is UAE’s clever little gifting solution that allows you to subscribe for a 1,3 or 6-month subscription starting as low as AED 127.

As a Box Therapy subscriber, you get a box of goodies delivered right to your door. Who said you need a special occasion to treat yourself (or someone very special)?

I got my first box this month, and when it got to my desk halfway through a mundane workday staring at spreadsheets, I morphed into an excited little girl all over again and couldn’t wait to delve into my box of surprises.

Who was Yhi?

In Australian Aboriginal mythology (specifically: Gamilaraay peoples),Yhi is a goddess of light and creation, and a solar deity. She lived in the Dreamtime and slept until a whistle awakened her. When she opened her eyes, light fell on the Earth. She walked the earth and plants grew where she walked. – Wikipedia.

Aptly named after the Aboriginal goddess of rejuvenation and life, YHI is an award-winning spa located on the top floor of Melia Dubai. The spa won the prestigious title of “Best Luxury Emerging Spa” at the World Luxury Spa Awards this year, and I had the pleasure of trying out their YHI Synergic Body Therapy massage this week.

Atelier-Flou, the luxury fragrance brand originating from France, has made its debut into the UAE and GCC market this summer, and I had the pleasure of having a brief chat with the founder of the brand, Jean-François Cabos himself!

Atelier-Flou follows the age-old principles of perfumery, using the rarest of natural ingredients. The brand does not follow trends, it does not try to astonish or stand out. Rather, it lives by the principles of subtlety and elegance and prides itself for its unmatched quality. Read on for more on Atelier-Flou from the maker himself.

With a plethora of beauty brands in malls around Dubai, I’ve walked past my local Inglot store a number of times but only recently ventured in to have a play.

Stepping in, I transformed into a child in a candy store. The store is so vibrant with colours in every shade imaginable, and its all out there for everyone to have a play with! The lovely store ladies even give you beauty brushes to have a go as you please.

Half way through the busy work week, I decided to treat myself to a facial. The lovely people at Kaya Skin Clinic invited me to try out a facial of my choice, and given they are conveniently located on the second floor of Mega Mall (Sharjah), I managed to fit in an appointment during my lunch break.

What is Kaya Skin Clinic? Created under the umbrella of Marico, one of India’s pioneering beauty goods manufacturers, Kaya Skin Clinic opened its doors in Dubai in early 2003. Combining the expertise of trained dermatologists and beauty experts with the customer service and care the women of the Middle East would expect from the high-end retail sector, Kaya Skin Clinic has built a reputation for their advanced, state of the art skincare technologies. Today the brand has over 18 branches across the GCC region.

Facials at Kaya Skin Clinic are therefore far more advanced as compared to your regular salon or spa treatment. They offer a number of facial packages that can be customized as per individual needs (more details can be found on their website link here). I decided to try out the ‘Kaya Ultra Youth Glow’.

Lush released a video entitled ‘The Experimenter’ last December, and it got Lush fans worldwide super-duper excited! The video is a dramatacised take on the brand’s newest bath bomb that goes by the same name, and was first released in Lush’s flagship store on Oxford Street, London.

A road-trip through sunny UAE, and a walkathon around Yas Island left my skin crying out for rejuvenation once we hit our hotel room at night. I’ve been using the masks from the ‘When Special Package’, and was saving up the ‘Travelmate’ mask for this short trip.

The mask was packed with the rest of my beauty travel stash below:

I was invited to the reopening of the Lush store at Mercato Mall last night. I’ve always loved the brand’s eco-friendly stance. As a major Lushie, I return my 5 empty pots for recycling (and get rewarded with a free face mask! Read more about that here), but the renovations at Mercato Mall have gone to show just how environmentally serious Lush management is.

I had the pleasure of having a chat with Gary Wells, Lush’s Project Manager for the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

I look like a dwarf next to Gary!

With over a decade of experience with Lush in the UK, Gary has taken over the responsibility of opening 30 more stores across this region. He joined the MENA team in March this year, and gets into the nitty gritty of constructing the store interiors, keeping it up to Lush standards on a budget, and more importantly, sourcing material from environmentally sustainable and recyclable materials. His efforts have seen him being awarded the SKA accreditation for his contributions towards sustainable fittings for shops.
