Beauty Review: Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask

I took a deep-dive pore plunge this morning with the Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask!

Scandinavian skincare brand Ole Henriksen took inspiration from their homeland’s spa tradition of ending a hot sauna treatment with a cold plunge into the sea with this delightfully bright turquoise cooling mud mask.

Product Promise

A deeply purifying mud mask with a cooling effect that promises to take a ‘deep dive’ into the pores, cleanse them out and reduce their visibility. The mask also promises to mattify the skin for 8 hours straight.

Who is this mask made for?

This mask is suitable for all skin-types, and is especially helpful for excessive oiliness and restoring a clean, refreshed glow to a dull, uneven complexion.

Key Ingredients

  • antioxidant-rich alpine willow herb and snow lotus which thrive in extreme cold climates
  • AHA and BHA to dramatically improve skin texture
  • A patented Green Fusion Complex™ to balance the skin
  • Neem seed oil help replenish the skin
  • A patented Ole Glow® complex to refresh, refine and purify

Tezzy’s Experience with the Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask

First off, I am in love with the turquoise hue of this mask! It is instantly cooling to the eyes. The green packaging is deceiving, but I guess it had to match with the other products in this Ole Henriksen range.

The mask is smooth, and it is pretty easy to achieve an even, thin, smooth layer with a brush. A little goes a long way, you really just need a very thin layer and this will ensure it dries up perfectly in the recommended 15 minutes.

The cooling effect isn’t very apparent at first. ‘Refreshing’ would be a better word to describe it.

The packaging recommends splashing on cold water post the 15 minute timeline, and rubbing it up into a cooling scrub. My skin loved this! I could see a marked glow as I patted my face dry.

Does it live up to the 8 hour mattifying promise? Hard to tell as personally I prefer rich face creams.

Overall, I love this mask! I’ve used it twice so far. The turquoise color warrants for a #maskselfie every time, and it really does leave my skin feeling squeaky clean without the usual dryness associated with a hard-core mud mask.
