Sephora Middle East recently held a bloggers’ event at the scenic surroundings of Cove Beach (Jumeirah Beach Hotel). This was a sneak preview highlighting exciting new additions to the Sephora shelves, and one of the items in my goodie bag included the Michael Kors Extreme Blue eau de toilette spray for men. Hooray! I have something in my beauty bag for Hubby, I thought. But one whiff of this latest scent by Michael Kors, and my generous intentions were scarred.

Who else is guilty of stealing squirts from a man’s stash? I for one have always loved scents with a more woody, spicy, complex base and these tend to be more common in the male isle. I used to secretly help myself to Encounter by Calvin Klein from my father’s cabinet, wore Christian Dior’s Dior Homme Intense for the longest time, and my favorite all-over body cologne is the beautifully woody, unisex Dear John by Lush.

The Michael Kors Extreme Blue on the other hand, is not entirely deep and woody. It has a pronounced hit of spice, the boldness of bergamot, and an overall fresh, urban vibe that smells altogether posh, luxe and ‘put together’.

The Michael Kors Extreme Blue cologne starts off as a sharp, spicy note which quickly mellows down to a fresh, undeniably masculine, faintly sweet scent.

Wearing this scent makes me feel fresh, confident and all the more sophisticated. It is so ‘white-collar’, and although the base notes are derived from autumnal cues, I feel it is wearable all year round. The sweet floral accents highlight the spicy notes beautifully, making it a mysteriously fresh and urban scent for summer.

While all the other ladies don floral, fruity notes, wearing a woody, masculine scent will make heads turn!

Best of all, the Michael Kors Extreme Blue cologne lasts all day, from dawn to dusk. I’ve just needed a refresher dose when heading out in the evenings.

I also love the sleek, stylish bottle. The silver top and the contrasting blue of the contents is ‘understated urban’ at its best. It stands out on my dresser, cool and confident among the rest of the boisterous bottles.

My husband has worn this scent as well, and absolutely loves it. I am trying to be less selfish, and allow him a few squirts. I have to say, I love the scent on him. Perhaps its time I got him his own bottle… and if he’s very, very good, I might even get him the Michael Kors Extreme Blue After Shave Balm, and the Hair & Body Wash too (and share the body wash from time to time)! After all, sharing is caring 🙂
