‘No Stupid People Beyond This Point’ read the large neon signage at the front of newly opened Blaze Burgers on foodie strip, JBR. Passerby’s stop for a giggle and an Insta-worthy click, but the real artistic renditions lie beyond the neon signage where walls are done up in tattoo-style graffiti, a pair of eyes peep out from the pipe-works and an entire shelf of enticing sauces and cutlery are ready for pickup in your very own shopping basket.

Named after one of my favorite Mediterranean salads, Tabule, the tangy, fresh parsley medley that often appears as a cold mezze at the start of an Arabic feast, is an authentic Lebanese restaurant set in the picturesque landscape of Roda Al Murooj.
We were there last Saturday to try out their BBQ Brunch, which proved to be both a visual and gastronomical treat. The lush greenery and astute architecture beguiles the mind into thinking you are dining in an exotic location, far, far away from the urban jungle of Dubai.

Rosehip Oil is a bit of a juxtaposition… the bare mention of ‘rose’ might conjure up an overbearingly floral, scented picture but in contrast you have an oil that smells of… well, an oil.
Rosehip Oil is far from rosy, and has a characteristically bright yellow color. Although the oil has been used for beauty since the era of the ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans for its healing properties, it was probably Australian beauty Miranda Kerr who brought it back to the limelight.
I am a pashmina hoarder. I love collecting these luxuriously hand-woven, elaborately embroidered shawls and with the slight chill in the air, my shawls are finally seeing the light of day.
But what is Pashmina? And what makes it so sought-after? Is it the same as the 10 dirham scarves you find at Carrefour? Read on for an intro into the world of pashminas, on how to find the real deal, and how I incorporate them into my winter wardrobe.
Many a makeup palette are created with inspirations of the season, but rarely have I come across ones that are inspired by an entire city.
NYX Cosmetics has come up with the Wanderlust Lip & Eye Collection that are dedicated to seven major cities around the globe.
There’s one for Los Angeles, Madrid, Paris, London, Coopenhagen, Vancouver… and Dubai!
Founded in 2011 by Gordon Ramsay’s protégés Nick Alvis & Scott Price and later under the reign of Darren Velvick, Table 9 at @dubaicreekhilton has a prestigious lineup of world-renounced chefs under its belt, and my expectations were therefore in the nines.

Located on the first floor of Hilton Dubai Creek, the restaurant ambiance is all about minimalist black and white; think upholstered black leather and starched white tablecloths. The spacing is long and narrow, and with an age-old interior design trick of adding mirroring across the walls, the restaurant appears a little larger than it is.
The last leg of the year brings with it the cooler weather we’ve all been craving in the UAE, and with it comes the harvest season for some of the finest the Arabian seas have to offer.
Taking full advantage of seafood season, award-winning Indian restaurant India Palace has launched a limited edition menu entitled ‘Samundari Khazana’ (which aptly translates to ‘Treasures of the Sea’).
Last weekend I had the pleasure of dining in the artfully psychedelic Izakaya Japanese restaurant in JW Marriott Marquis, Dubai. Apart from its groovy interiors and the ever-popular Wasabi Girl (who serves up freshly grated Wasabi at the shout of her name, has bright green hair she credits to Wasabi-eating, and even has an Instagram page of her own @izakayawasabigirl), I was quite enchanted with their Sake Cart.
We met the beautiful Kampai, who hosts the Sake Cart at Izakaya. Apart from giving us tasters of some of the world’s finest sakes, she was brimming with knowledge on this age-old Japanese rice wine, and I had to make notes to share these gems with you…
Last week, I had a very pampering session at The Heavenly Spa, located inside The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City.
Struggling with finding my way to the hotel entrance, I finally parked at the Dubai Canal and took the footbridge across. The weather is cooling down, and this wee walk turned out to be rather therapeutic and got me into the groove for an afternoon at the spa.
The Heavenly Spa is one of the largest spa establishments I’ve visited with 20 spacious treatment rooms, inclusive of a Hamam.
