When it comes to foundations, I always believed a higher price tag would guarantee a better finish. I rarely use foundations, and reserve them for special occasions or a bad case of breakouts. I therefore have very few foundations in my makeup stash, most of which range on the higher end of the pricing spectrum.
And then I got sent a bag of goodies from drugstore brand Max Factor. With this came the adorably compact Max Factor Pan Stik:
If there is one great makeup news so far this year, it has to be the launch of Lime Crime in Sephora! I’ve been an avid fan of the brand ever since I found them online via Pinterest, and have been buying their products from the States ever since. So glad we can now get our Lime Crime fix right here at our friendly neighborhood Sephora branch!
Lime Crime has been pioneers in many ways. They brought in the whole concept of matte lips, and their lipstick shades are anything but conventional. And then there’s their iconic Venus palette…
In a world of nudes and smokey-eyes, Lime Crime created this absolutely stunning masterpiece. The Venus palette offers 8 full-sized eye-shadows ranging from earthy tones to unconventional neutrals and rusty reds.
I am an all-out lipstick junkie, and can be pretty experimental with my choices. To me, a bright pout screams confidence, and I am as comfortable sporting a nude as I am a perky purple, and even a goth-inspired black.
However, even if you shy away from color, chances are you own a red lipstick (or two… or ten!). One of my favorite brands for lipsticks is MAC Cosmetics, especially their matte range. Their color range is wide and varied, and many of their shades have become iconic the world over. For reds, the MAC Ruby Woo and Russian Red are shades that are (literally) on every girl’s lips, but one that is not as talked of is the MAC Chili.
I haven’t done a #motd (‘makeup of the day’) post for a while, so today’s write-up is a breakdown of what went on my face to create my last selfie upload on Instagram:
They say a significant portion of your selfie game is determined by the state of your hair, and I can’t agree more. I have already been raving about the balayage blonde coloring I got done by the very talented Roger from Station 10 salon (located in Ramada Jumeirah) – click here if you missed it. Gosh Cosmetics is a makeup brand hailing from Denmark, and prides itself for its high-quality products that are in par with some of the biggest brands on the beauty shelves (yet cost a fraction of the price). Moreover, the brand is cruelty-free, their products contain no harmful parabans or synthetic additives, and apart from their lipsticks which contain beeswax, the Gosh range can also claim to be vegan-friendly! (For more on Gosh Cosmetics, read my earlier post by clicking here).
I just got back to good old sunny Dubai, and went ecstatic discovering a whole new bag of Gosh goodies in my mailbox! Ofcourse I had to play with them right away 🙂
Just when I thought I’d found the epitome of foundation perfection, the Shiseido Syncro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation lands on my reviewing desk. I love my Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation, and being rather brand loyal, was rather reluctant to make a shift. However, this brand new contender has ticked far too many boxes than I first gave it credit for, and I’m totally obsessed!
I recently got introduced to Gosh Cosmetics, and got to take away a few of their gorgeous, very reasonably priced products to try out for myself. Come to think of it, most of the goodies I got are ‘all about the base’ 🙂 I seem to be in dire need to up my base-makeup ammunition, and am absolutely loving these three Gosh products:
I’ve never been a biggie on eye-shadows. I am a bright lippie fan, and was always under the impression you either do up your eyes or the lips, never both. How wrong was I. Eyes and lips, the entire face, need to compliment and blend in together. A smokey eye with a bright red lip is after all, classic siren material!
And so this summer has seen me investing in two of the most talked about eye-shadow palettes out there; Too Faced Chocolate Bar and Urban Decay Naked.
