In the short time since its opening, Wok Boyz has become an iconic corner in the foodie hub of Sheikh Zayed Road, and this claim to fame is mainly owing to the larger than life graffiti wall that adorns its front facade.
The colorful work of art has been touted to be the most Instagrammable wall in Dubai; quite a feat for a completely home-grown newbie concept in a market that is saturated with the world’s best.
I spent my Eid week off in the hustle bustle of Delhi, the capital city of India. Delhi is brimming with old-world charm, and I was last here over a decade ago to shop for my wedding trousseau.
Apart from the chaotic markets clamored with colorful, exotic ware and bargain steals, Delhi is also known as a foodie destination. One of the landmarks of the city is Karim’s of Delhi, located in the heart of Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi and at a walkable distance from iconic Jama Masjid (one of India’s largest mosques built between 1644 to 1656 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan).
Friday brunches have become a bit of a Dubai institution. The list of great brunch spots around the city is endless; but if you are looking for an absolutely palatial setting, complete with views of the iconic Burj Khalifa and an endless pour-down of fine beverages, the 1001 Flavours Brunch at Ewaan, Palace Downtown is one to consider.
Just driving into Palace Downtown is a visual treat with its rows of palm trees and the much Instagrammed water feature at the front courtyard. Ewaan restaurant is located on the lower ground level, and the expansive interiors are tastefully decorated with Arabesque accents and floor to ceiling glass windows that take full advantage of the in-flood of natural light and the stunning views of the pool and Burj Khalifa.
I was brunching with two of my favorite girls, so ofcourse we got click-happy!
When legendary Chef Satish Arora was advised that 13th July marks ‘World Kebab Day’, he was ready with an enticing new menu from pre-starters to dessert in under 24 hours. Mahec by Satish Arora, located in the gastronomic hub of Le Meridien Village (Airport Road Dubai) is hosting a Kebab Festival from 12th to 27th July, 7pm to 11 pm daily.
The special menu features a total of 11 brand new kebabs, not to mention an entire array of starters and dessert.
I had the pleasure of dining at Mahec last night, and had the honor of meeting Chef Satish Arora in person once again. How did he manage to come up with an entire menu in a day? Humble as he is talented, he tells us that over 50 years in the business makes it come naturally to him.
Mango + Coconut = Tropical Dreams Come True
This super sweet and satisfyingly refreshing combination of flavors is just the kick-start I need for a busy, sunny day of work.
I hope you love this smoothie as much as I do. For starters, its super quick and easy to do (under 5 minutes… time me!), is totally vegan, gluten-free and packed with all-natural goodness.
Every Friday morning, my little girl Farasha and I have a special weekend ritual that we call ‘Girls Day Out‘. While daddy snoozes, we like to go out for a bout of girlie shopping, and often treat ourselves to a light lunch.
My daughter is only 7, and this means our dining options are often restricted to quick fixes that end with a free toy. However, I’ve recently discovered that one of my favorite Greek restaurants also has quite a specialized kid’s menu.
This was us a couple of Fridays back at Eat Greek Kouzina, The Dubai Mall. Was super fun shooting with the Eat Greek Kouzina and Le Pear Societe team, and they were so patient with my super hyper bunny. Click ‘play’ on the below Instagram post to see:
Jodhpur Royal Dining is one of my favorite places for Indian fine-dining in the city, and they have really upped their game this holy month with a very special Iftar menu.
The menu is divided into Veg and Non-Veg options, and consists of pre-starters, starters, main-courses, sides and desserts.
Starting off the magical culinary journey, diners get to break their fast with a dramatic selection of stuffed dates.
Ramadan Kareem! Here’s wishing you and your loved ones a very joyous, blessed month.
Ramadan is by far my most favorite month of the year. This month of fasting observed by Muslims the world over is the perfect time for personal introspection, a time for both a physical and emotional cleanse.
Apart from the shorter work hours that we enjoy in our part of the world, I love how everything comes to life in the evenings. The Ramadan markets will soon be abuzz, and the malls are open well past midnight. And the food… we are absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to both Iftar and Suhoor buffets.
I’ve had the pleasure of trying out a few Iftars, and will keep updating this list as the month goes by. Hope you find it useful!
A couple of weeks ago, my family and I had the pleasure of being invited to newly opened Fogo de Chão in DIFC, Dubai. This fine-dining Brazilian steakhouse might be new to our region, but has been around since 1979. It is rare to come across restaurant chains that have a long lineage of history, let alone one that started with humble beginnings and trail-blazed its presence across continents, proudly showcasing special cuts that are well and truly a part of the Brazilian heritage.
The founders of Fogo de Chão grew up on a traditional Southern Brazilian farm in Serra Gaucha where they learnt the art of churrasco grilling, a milestone that would soon pave the way for their very successful culinary careers.
Last weekend my little family and I were invited to try out the brand-new menu at Carnival by Tresind. This restaurant ranks high on my all-time favorites in the city, and never ceases to amaze. From the magical interiors to the spectacular dishes, all served with the frills and thrills we have become accustomed to when it comes to the Tresind label, I always get a tad too excited when dining here.
The new menu pays tribute to Colonial India, a time when the British reigned the country and had a significant influence on its traditional cuisine.
