Swissotel (Al Ghurair Dubai) Launches the Play House Brunch

Last Friday I had the pleasure of being one of the first diners in Dubai to try out the Playhouse Brunch in Liwan restaurant at the newly opened 5-star property Swissotel (which has opened in Al Ghurair Dubai earlier this year).

As a mummy, I love restaurants that go the extra mile to keep little diners happy. A happy child means happy parents, and a genuinely chilled out brunch. There are quite a few brunches across the city that cater to this need with a dedicated kids play area, etc but none of the ones I’ve been to come even close to all the fun and games that’s to be had at the Play House Brunch!

First off, there is a play room, padded with soft flooring and complete with a bouncy castle, tables of painting activities and a lady patiently doing customized face-painting to a discerning lineup of little tots.

Then there’s another room where live baking classes are given to little ones every hour. My little girl loved dressing up as a chef and doing squiggles on cupcakes.

They even have an arcade corner showcasing popular video games, and an entire buffet dedicated to little diners. There are cartoon-themed cupcakes, healthy smoothies and not-so-healthy cookie milkshakes. There’s pizza and nuggets and so much more.

Best of all, all the play areas are monitored by CCTV and displayed on the wide screens strategically placed across the restaurant. So mummy and daddy really can have peace of mind and indulge in adult conversation over a very large buffet selection of international favorites.

I really enjoyed the buffet here. They have so many live stations, all dedicated to different cuisines. There was a Mexican station serving bowls of taco the way you want it, a Vietnamese spring-rolls counter where the delicate rolls are assembled before your eyes, the very popular Mongolian Barbeque counter where you get to choose your cuts of meats, seafood and marinades and have them grilled to your liking, and my favorite… the Thai curry counter where I had one of the best bowls of seafood green curry ever.

If you are a chocoholic, you really ought to visit the dessert isle first. Apart from a wide selection of artisan pastries and gourmet scoops of ice-cream, they have a section dedicated to Swiss chocolate desserts. My favorites included a very decadent salted caramel slice and a peanut-butter and jelly slice.

The Playhouse Brunch runs every Friday from 12.30 to 4 pm and costs AED 160 for adults, and AED 80 for children. Kids under 5 dine for free. For the price, and the entire lineup of games and treats, this brunch really is great value for money. Hit play below to see more of the fun we had last Friday, and make a booking for yourself. Bon appetit!
