Craving a hearty Indian lunch, and not quite sure what to order? The quintessential Indian thali is always a good idea. A ‘thali’ comprises of a number of sampler curries, rice and flat-breads, and if you’re lucky, you get sweet treat at the end as well.
Bargain alert! Fine-dining Indian restaurant Antique Bazaar (located on the Mezzanine floor of the ever-popular 4 Points by Sheraton in the heart of bustling Bur Dubai), is offering a thali lunch for as low as AED 31 per person.
I was there last Saturday, and opted for the non-vegetarian thali which is AED 36 and features a chicken curry, a mutton curry, raita, daal, rice, flatbreads and a dessert. Best of all, this is an unlimited thali, so you can get refills on whatever you like.
The menu changes daily, and this offer is open all days of the week barring Fridays.
The thali here really is a royal treat as you get to enjoy the stunning interiors of Antique Bazaar that is made to look like an enchanted palace in a bygone Indian era, and a skillful sitarist strums out old-school Bollywood love songs, cross-legged on a pile of cushions center-stage.
The service here is exemplary despite the crowd of diners. And yes, the thali bargain deal has leaked! Best to book a table to ensure you get a spot. Thank me later.
