Call me crazy, but I love wearing jackets even in the peak of a UAE summer. To me, a well-structured jacket is a lazy girl’s essential. It can pull together an otherwise ‘blah’ outfit, and even make a simple denim and tee combo acceptable for a night about town!
I recently bought this beauty at Zara. I am yet to meet a girl who doesn’t like Zara. This high-street brand seems to have every girl covered, regardless of her size and styling preference, and they strive to stay innovative with their collections.
Desigual, the unconventionally quirky, colorful brand from Barcelona, has long been one of my absolute favorites. I love their riot of colors, their unique take on combining world cultures, the signature mandala motif, and above all, the brand’s take on non-conformance. Desigual is anything but a fashion sheep. Straying away from mainstream trends, Desigual may have many a ‘me too’ wannabes, but nothing comes quite as close to the DNA of crazy-cool cuts and colors that is so ‘Desigual’.
Come 2017, and the brand announced the launch of the ‘New Desigual’, a range that would appeal to all, including those who shy away from color. I for one was dreading it. I LOVE the brand’s take on color clashes; you either love it or hate it. Surely they cannot have something for everyone? If you too are a die-hard fan of Desigual, fret not! The new collection is bigger and better than ever, and includes 6 sub-categories of looks.
The new collection has a whole new range of exceptionally stylish jackets. I fell in love with the Desigual Diven Blazer. With a formal blazer-style cut, this jacket can easily be taken from a casual day out right into the boardroom.
The tradition of wearing a Bindi, the ceremonial red dot worn by women of the Indian subcontinent, originates from ancient Hindu beliefs. The word ‘Bindi’ is derived from the Sanskrit ‘Bindu‘, or ‘point’. In Hinduism, this point on the forehead (right between the eyebrows), is considered the sacred spot from where creation begins.
Traditionally, round red bindis were worn by married women to signify their marital status. Over time, the humble bindi has surpassed religious significances, and has gone on to become a besotted ethnic accessory that comes in many colours and shapes.
I recently got introduced to the very talented Ninorah Fernandes, founder and creator of Nindi. A clever brand name that incorporates the bindi with her very own name, the Nindi range takes inspiration from all across the globe and best of all, they can be reused time and time again. They even have Hamsa Nindis! Ninorah gives us more insight into her innovative brand, read on for more!

Just three more sleeps before the Numaish Festive Fair! Scheduled to take place this coming Friday 23rd September till the late hours of Saturday 24th at Hotel Conrad (Dubai), the fair is a must-visit for shopaholics who are on the lookout for something uniquely different.
One prominent designer who will be showcasing her wares at the fair is Anita Kanwal. Best known for her endless list of Bollywood appearances and also a major hit on the Indian television screen, Anita has always been known for her immaculate sense of dressing.
It is therefore only natural she ventured into the world of fashion. I had a little chitchat with her on the eve of the Numaish Festive Fair.
Got the Sunday morning blues? Fret not, you have the Numaish Festive Fair to look forward to this coming weekend! From Friday 23rd to Saturday 24th September, the Numaish Festive Fair will showcase an array of on-trend designers at Hotel Conrad, Dubai.

Numaish, the curator of couture Indian fashion, is set to showcase yet another spectacular fair on 23rd and 24th September in Hotel Conrad, Dubai. If you are looking for unique fashion-forward Indian designer pieces, be in traditional or out of the box Indo-Western, this is a fair you cannot afford to miss.
The Numaish Festive Fair is showcasing a long list of prominent and upcoming Indian fashion designers, and one to watch out for on the list is House of Sohn. I had a wee chat with Sohni Patel, the very young and talented designer behind the very Indo-Western label. Read on about her journey into the fashion trade, what she will be showcasing at Numaish, and her top tips for keeping on-trend.
I had the pleasure of being invited to a very exclusive store launch late last month. Stile by Ghulam Ali is a besotted Indian fashion design label created by the very debonair, dashing brother duo Ghulam and Ali. Following the legacy of their father who owned a tailoring store by the name of ‘Stile’, the brothers developed a sense for fashion at a very tender age.
Their store in Cosmos Lane, Meena Bazar (Bur Dubai) is their very first venture out of India. The store launch was planned with great pomp and festivity. The entire cast of Bollywood’s latest flick, ‘Freaky Ali’ were also invited!
Numaish Exhibitions is back once again with a brand new lineup of exquisite new-season trends from India’s the hottest upcoming designers. The Numaish Festive Fair is going to take place in the weekend of 23rd and 24th September in Conrad Hotel, Dubai and is open to the public inclusive of free valet service.
I have been associated with the Numaish fair for 3 seasons now, and being a huge fan of boho and Indo-Western silhouettes, I always look forward to visiting the stalls. At Numaish, you are sure to find something extraordinarily different.
One of the designers who has been a regular at Numaish ever since I got associated with it is Suchita Pandey. Hailing from Jaipur, arguably the cultural capital of Indian textiles, Suchita turned her love for fashion into a very successful career with the launch of her label Suchita’s Stylista.
