Last week, I had a very pampering session at The Heavenly Spa, located inside The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City.
Struggling with finding my way to the hotel entrance, I finally parked at the Dubai Canal and took the footbridge across. The weather is cooling down, and this wee walk turned out to be rather therapeutic and got me into the groove for an afternoon at the spa.
The Heavenly Spa is one of the largest spa establishments I’ve visited with 20 spacious treatment rooms, inclusive of a Hamam.
Upon arrival, I was given a form to fill with my details. The form also asked about my health concerns, and the kind of treatments I was interested in. I filled this in along with copious sips of chilled hibiscus tea.
The interiors of The Heavenly Spa are so apt with the spa’s name; everything here is so serene, yet so in tune with the stylishly modern look and feel of The Westin. With dark woods, earthy color themes and dreamy mosaics, I was in awe with the place as I was taken around for a tour before my treatment.
The most spectacular room I saw here is the couples’ treatment room. With two dedicated massage stations, a shower for two, and stunning views of the iconic Burj Khalifa, this luxurious suite is the ideal spa paradise to bond and embrace wellness together. After all, who can resist a massage with a view?
I was having a solo session this time round, and decided to try out their signature Drizzle Deep Massage. The mention of rich shea, cocoa and mango butters had me hooked. A pampering massage with added skin nourishment sounded perfect to me.
After packing away my belongings in the allocated locker and changing into the cosy Westin bathrobe and slippers, I headed to the inviting couches and sipped on cucumber water, waiting for my therapist to usher me in.
I was greeted by the lovely Fitri from Indonesia. We started off with a foot soak and foot massage, over which Fitri asked me how strong I liked my massage, and if the room temperature, lighting and music was to my liking.
I then got to choose my melted butter concoction. One was scented a sweet marshmallow, and the other a more subtle Plum Chiffon. I went for the later.
Fitri started off with my back, and kneaded away my knots of stress (she said I had quite a few!). She asked if I wanted more pressure in certain areas, and went on to work her magic on my neck and upper back. A heat compress was placed on my back while she worked my legs and feet. Turning around, she gave me a much-needed head massage.
This 50 minute session left me feeling so rested, that I could have easily dozed off on that massage bed. Heading back to the resting area, that is exactly what I did on the very plush reclining seating. I really like how each resting seat is curtained off from another, giving each guest a little privacy.
Fitri brought me a tray of fruit tea and dried fruit, which I nibbled through as I skimmed through some of their reading material.
My Drizzle Deep 50 minute session cost AED 435, and you can choose to extend this to 80 minutes for AED 635. Although this may sound excessive, I believe we all deserve a little pampering given our hectic lifestyles. My visit to The Heavenly Spa gave me a much needed boost of revitalization.
