Numaish Winter Show: Silvense by Vrindaa Ashwani

The Numaish Winter Show, the much-awaited exhibition of India’s most promising designers, is set to take place on 19th December at Al Murooj Rotana, Dubai.

Silvense is a gorgeous range of contemporary jewelry. The pieces are minimalist, yet bold and follow funky, unexpected geometric designs that are altogether unique and very chic. Great news; you can shop their latest collection firsthand at the Numaish Winter Show!

I had a chat with the jewelry designer behind the brand, the very lovely Vrindaa Ashwani herself. Read on to see what she has in store for Numaish.

What inspired you to become a jewelry designer?
Its a profession where mind has no boundaries and helps you to wander and yet come back to the real world. It gives you a sense of freedom to create what you want to and present your perspective in subtle layers.
It is very inspiring to be in a profession that stimulates your mind to grow and gauge more perspective about the world.
Tell us more about your latest collection that you are showcasing at Numaish.

Dispersion of Light

The world of limitations, sometimes forces you to explore the deeper meaning of existence. When all your thoughts break their bonds, your mind transcends limitations. So, this collection is a result of breaking limitations and making an attempt to explore the deeper meaning of colour and its connection with emotions.

The colours of the 7 chakras each manifesting an emotion which when cleansed can connect us with the higher planes of consciousness.

 The color palette comprises of the seven colours: red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo and violet in the form of semi precious stones with the metal colour being grey and gold giving the collection an edgy appeal.

 The designs are dramatic and inspired from jewelry that you can adorn.

– What are the key inspirations behind this collection?
The colours of the 7 chakras each manifesting an emotion which when cleansed can connect us with the higher planes of consciousness.
– How does Indian fashion stand out from the rest of the world?
 It is the contemporary take on the Indian cultural arts and crafts that makes  Indian fashion stand out.  The whole hand-made part of the jewelry, the semi-precious natural stones available only in India, every bit is loved by the world. 
Where do you see Indian fashion in the next five years?
The booming designer wear industry in India is likely to cross Rs 11,000 crore mark by 2020, apex industry body ASSOCHAM including accessory designers.
The trend has shifted to the use of occasion-specific fashion jewelry featuring better design elements and weighing less. So a huge potential for accessory designers to showcase their collection. And with the growing purchasing power and higher disposable income of the younger generation gives us a platform to create occasion specific experimental jewelry.
“Currently India’s share in the global designer wear industry is a minimal 0.32% but is likely to reach about 1.7% by 2020,” said Mr Rawat.
The designer wear industry in India is driven by higher disposable incomes leading to rising purchasing power, emergence of mall culture, changing sense of style, dressing and growing fashion consciousness among urbanites, therefore giving us a platform to showcase our ideas to the world.
In your opinion, how does the fashion scene of the UAE differ from the rest of the world?
There is no doubt that Dubai right now is the world of couture.
The business is evolving with the growing demand and government support. The fashion industry is rising to a whole new level.
The fashion that prevails is about flamboyance and glamour taken to the next level and worn so well. Its about wearing statement pieces that make people stand out.
