Sharjah Food Festival #SSF16

The Sharjah Food Festival ended this weekend. The festival is spread across three areas within Sharjah; Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba and Al Montazah. We spent an idle Friday evening at Al Majaz Waterfront courtesy Zomato, and had a great time.

Hello 2016!

Happy 2016! New Year’s Day is a special time for all of us. It’s a common birthday date we all share, a new beginning to set everything right.

Do you keep New Year Resolutions? I am guilty of being rather regurgitative with mine, and have been going with the most commonly kept ‘fitter, trimmer me’ mantra.

Early into 2015, I almost thought I’d managed to keep it! There I was jogging down the park smirking to myself thinking more than half my co-joggers will fizzle out by early Feb. The joke’s on me; I didn’t last past the third week of Jan.

Sure, I need to work on my fitness, but unlike previous years I will not make it a resolution. Instead I am planning to focus on more altruistic self-growth goals.

Patiala by Kunal Kapur: a review on the new tasting menu

Pegged as India’s ‘next big guy in kebabs and curries’, Celebrity Chef Kunal Kapur is best known for his role as judge on India’s version of Master Chef.

At a mere 36 years of age, Chef Kunal has a lot to be proud of. He’s bagged the award for ‘Best Indian Restaurant’ six times over, and has been awarded the prestigious Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship, by New Zealand Prime Minister Mr. John Keys in the field of Food & Beverage (Wikipedia).

Patiala by Kunal Kapur is Chef Kunal’s very first venture into the Gulf, and the restaurant, including the menu, has gone through a major revamp in the past two months. I was therefore very excited at the prospect of having dinner at Patiala last weekend, and tried out their very extensive, flavorful Non-Vegetarian Patiala Tasting Menu.

Yay for the long weekend! The UAE celebrates its 44th National Day tomorrow, and we get two days off. Add the mandatory weekend of Friday and Saturday, and we’ll be out of the office for 4 days flat 🙂
