The Numaish Festive Fair is taking place from Fri 28 – Sat 29 Sept at the Godolphin Ballroom in Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

As always, Numaish has curated an enticing lineup of the latest in Indian designer wear, and one of my favorite labels showcasing this month is Anavila.

‘Anavila’ translates to ‘pure’ in the ancient Indian tongue of Sanskrit, and is also the name of the founder of this beautiful fashion label.

What Makes Anavila Different?

While Desi fashion tends to be unabashedly loud, frivolous and colorful, Anavila has created a niche for the subtle, sophisticated world of authentic handlooms hand-crafted by artisans across India.

Anavila is all about sustainable fashion. All their materials used are sourced responsibly, and by using local artisans, the brand strongly supports and sustains the artisan community.

The Story of Anavila:

Our story began a few years ago when Anavila was chosen to manage a CRAFT CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, by Ministry of rural development, Government of India in collaboration with NIFT, New Delhi as a Project Consultant and Design Studio Manager.

A graduate from National Institute of fashion Technology in New Delhi ,India; Anavila started her career as a designer for leading fashion brands in India. A few years into the industry and she got drawn to rich heritage of Indian crafts and textiles.

When on the project Anavila interacted with artisans across the length of the country. The beauty and immense possibilities trapped in these far out remote areas stayed with Anavila even after the project was concluded. And a contemporary take on Traditional Indian Textiles was born with Anavila.

Over the last few years Anavila has created a design vocabulary that is contemporary and on-the-go-chic. Understated elegance that is not overtly embellished is what makes our sarees different.

One can choose from a range of exquisite cottons and silks and linen sarees, lovely hand crafted which respect the environment and nature, while remaining true to the craft and the creator.

Our home line offers beautiful options for your living space. Following fair trade practices and constantly working on improving the life of our artisans is important to us.
