We were in Ras Al Khaimah earlier this month, and stayed at Acacia Hotel. However, by dinner time, we decided to venture out towards town, enjoy the scenic corniche area and then head on to our dinner invite at Noodles Corner, located in Mangrove Hotel (yet another Bin Majid Hotels and Resorts property).
Noodles Corner, as the name suggests, is tucked away in a quiet corner of the hotel. Elaborately decorated in the auspicious red and gold Chinese symbols of luck, this quaint, dimly lit restaurant with scenic views of the Ras Al Khaimah corniche, is a budget-friendly hidden gem.
The menu is loaded with many of my personal favorites, as well as a number of new takes that we absolutely loved.
We started off with steaming-hot bowls of Hot & Sour Chicken Soup. Aromatic, and perfectly balanced with hot and sweet, an enticing soup like this feels like a much needed warm hug.
The steamed dumplings here are beautifully moist, and packed with flavor. We had an assortment of dumplings, and my personal favorite was the chicken variation. I especially loved the freshly made hot chili paste that was served on the side.
My husband had a half-pint of beer (yes they serve alcohol here), and loved the decadently crunchy Deep Fried Shrimps here.
For the main course, we had a very flavorful Sweet & Sour Beef where generous portions of succulently soft meat was tossed in an authentic sauce. We also had the Kungpau Chicken, yet another wok favorite featuring boneless chicken in soya sauce, assorted vegetables and cashew nuts.
However, the unanimous favorite on our table was Noodle Corner’s Poached Hamour Fish. Delicately soft boneless fillets of hamour is served in a very aromatic, deep, dark gravy that has the pungency of dried chili.
We had Chicken Fried Noodles (which were deliciously good, and can be a meal on their own), but with this hamour dish, I’d highly recommend an order of plain white rice on the side. The Pocher Hamour Fish was so good, that we would actually consider an entire drive up to Ras Al Khaimah just for this one dish!
Overall, Noodles Corner is a gem of a find. The food here is absolutely delicious and would be a hit with anyone who is an ardent fan of Indo-Chinese cuisine. The portion sizes are generously large, and mains start from as low as AED 35.
If you happen to be hanging around in Ras Al Khaimah city, do look up Noodles Corner in Mangrove Hotel… and I highly recommend the Poached Hamour!
