Apart from being nutritionally dense, oats have been used for beauty treatments for centuries. Using beauty products loaded with oats is believed to have many skin-enhancing qualities including skin hydration, soothing itchiness and keeping the overall complexion youthfully supple.
If you’ve been reading my beauty posts, you already know I am a huge fan of Lush. I’ve recently been treating myself to two of Lush’s oat-based beauty products; the Ceridwen’s Cauldron and the Dream Cream.
The above image was posted on Instagram. These two beauties really are a perfect end to a long, hard day.
Lush’s Ceridwen’s Caudron
This is essentially a bath melt that has been bundled up in pretty muslin. The muslin is tied onto the running water tap, and the bath fills up with a soothingly milky, bubbled bath.
This decadent bath soak has a mesmerizing scent of lavender with a hint of exotic sandalwood and lemon. The scent is so blissful that it makes the product ideal before bed.
I managed to use this through two bath-times, and when it was all used up, the muslin holds on to residue oats that would otherwise clog up the drainage. Leftovers can be used as an exfoliate.
Lush’s Dream Cream
The Dream Cream is the perfect follow-up after a bath soak with Lush’s Ceridwen’s Cauldron. It has a near-identical scent of lavender and lemon, and I also get a slight whiff of oaty goodness. The scent may not be liked by all, but it is very subtle and does not last long.
The cream itself is rich and thick, but my skin seems to soak it up. Best of all, it keeps the skin hydrated for hours.
I would highly recommend this hand and body cream for dry, sensitive skin.
