Hair Care making Mane Headlines (pun intended)!

I’ve been introduced to a plethora of new hair care products off-late, but there have been a certain few that have stood out from the rest.

Read on for hair care news that have been making the ‘mane’ headlines in my books!

Lush New Shampoo Bar

I am a huge fan of Lush shampoo bars. Using a shampoo in a bar format is a novel concept, and they last for ages (give or take 3 months for me, and I wash my hair every other day!).

Keeping up with the Lush philosophy, Lush shampoo bars are made of the freshest ingredients minus chemical nasties and parabans.

The newest addition to the range is the Lush New Shampoo Bar. Loaded with the aromatic scent of cinnamon, this gorgeous shampoo is all about loving the scalp. Rosemary and nettle cleanse and protect the scalp, and also provide it a stimulation for hair growth. Peppermint infusions add a burst of freshness, and give the locks a lovely shine.

This shampoo bar is great for a thorough cleanse, and given it comes in a bar form, its an ideal companion for travel (no more spills!).

Kiehl’s Damage Repairing & Rehydrating Range

Got chemically treated, overly damaged, dry hair crying out for help? You are not alone. Dry, damaged tresses are the number one concern for women globally.

Overly dry hair wears out the cuticle of the hair fiber exposing the hair’s vulnerable cortex. This makes hair brittle, gives rise to split ends, and makes growing a long, healthy mane a distant dream.

Enter Kiehl’s Damage Repairing & Rehydrating range. The range includes a shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in treatment.

Living up to the brand’s apothecary and botanical expertise, the key ingredient in these products is nutrient-rich Moringa Tree Oil and hydrating Hyaluronic and Ceramides.

Moringa Tree Oil: Referred to as the “tree of life” for its rich composition in anti-oxidants, proteins, biotin and vitamins A,B,C,E and K, this highly sought-after oil has been used in beauty rituals since ancient Egypt. Due to Moringa Tree Oil’s low molecular mass, nutrition is easily able to penetrate hair to protect and rebuild weak, fragile areas of the hair fiber.  This in turn helps to prevent breakage and leave hair completely replenished.

Hyaluronic + Ceramides: When strengthening Ceramides that bind to and fortify the cuticle are combined with Hydrating Hyaluronic, the benefits of this advanced formula are intensified, creating the optimal environment for healthy, resilient hair from root to tip.

These powerful ingredients, combined together, promise a whopping 78% improvement in hair health on first application itself. Best of all, this range is paraben-free!

I’ve been using the conditioner and leave-in treatment, and can honestly say my poor over-treated, dry tresses are loving them.

The products have a subtly sweet floral scent, and really do wonders at hydrating the hair.

After washing my hair, I used the conditioner for 5 minutes and applied the leave-in treatment to towel-dried hair. My hair not only felt hydrated, but was easy to comb through.

The leave-in treatment absorbs quickly and easily into the hair, and leaves no sticky residue.

It’s only a week since I started using the Kiehl’s Damage Repairing & Rehydrating range, and wish I had the shampoo to go with it! If this is how good it makes my hair feel in a mere 1 week, I’m super excited to see what happens in a month’s time. I think I can finally plan to grow my tresses longer!

Hairstyle Trends for Spring/Summer 2015

Inspired by music festivals and the boho, free-spirited 70’s, hair trends this season are all about blending freedom of expression with all things summer.

L’Oreal IT Looks for summer is the volume-enhancing shag layers cut. On trend, and seen on the catwalk as well as on celebrities including British model Eddie Campbell, the style can be interpreted in a number of ways ranging from grungy, messy, dusty and long to the traditional 70’s look.

I am loving how bright hues of red are making a reappearance in hair news. Taking cues from groovy style diva Rihanna, L’Oreal’s IT Looks for summer include accentuated shag cuts with red highlights. I am digging the look below; I want!

Hershesons Tools

Created by UK celebrity stylist Luke Hersheson, this brand of salon-savvy tools that are available for home users made its mark on the fashion map way back in the early nineties.
