Sherine John Tresind br manager mixologist cocktails molecular gastronomy dubai UAE indian fine dining (1)Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of dining at Tresind (located in Nassima Royal Hotel – Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai), will tell you about their magical cocktails. The drinks at Tresind oftentimes steal the spotlight from the restaurant’s phenomenal dishes. Clever concoctions featuring unexpected blends and the theatricals of molecular gastronomy thrown in, each drink is a unique masterpiece and presented with the exceptionally suave, jaw-dropping pizzazz we have come to expect a la Tresind.

Today I am introducing you to the man behind the magic; Tresind’s very own maestro mixologist, Beverage Manager Sherine John himself. A graduate in Hotel Management from India, John always had a special interest in cocktails and self-taught his way into Tresind cocktail fame.

A week ago, we had the pleasure of being invited back to Tresind, Dubai’s very first maestro of Indian molecular gastronomy. In the recent past, quite a few fine-dining establishments have added the magic of molecular gastronomy to their forte; but in my opinion, Tresind continues to rule the roost by continuously upping their game with new, innovative dishes.

Tresind has introduced a brand new menu for Summer 2016. The set menu comes in Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian variations. Ofcourse we tried the latter, which starts at AED 365 per head (add AED 200 for wine-pairing, inclusive of 5 half-glasses of wine).

A meal at Tresind is a three-sixty degree affair of the senses. Executive Head Chef Himanshu ensures that each and every dish not only tastes great, but looks and smells spectacular too. It is therefore very apt that our elaborate dinner at Tresind began with a magical, smokey whiff of woody sandalwood.

Zuccero is Italian for sugar, and we were on a sugar-high mid afternoon this Friday! Conceptualized and created by a cupcake dreamer around 5 years ago, Zuccero has long been a cafe favorite among Ajman dwellers and has finally opened a branch in Festival City, Dubai.

Zuccero is all things girly, and I love the shabby chic decor of the premises. From the Parisian stripes in the logo to the very kitsch little decor items lining the little shelves around the parameters, Zuccero provides the perfect setting for a lady-like afternoon tea with the girlfriends.

Happy Songkran! 13th April marks the beginning of the 3-day celebration ringing in the Thai new year. Lucky for us, we really don’t have to go buy a ticket to Thailand just yet – Sukhothai, the beautifully decorated Thai fine-dining restaurant located on the 5-star property of Le Meridien (Airport Road, Dubai) is setting up a lavish Bangkok Bazaar, complete with live entertainment and family fun.

Sukhothai’s Bangkok Bazaar is a 3-day event running from 13th – 15th April, and starts from AED 199 per person. I had the pleasure of being invited for a sneak preview of the Sukhothai Songkran menu, and enjoyed every festive bite!

We’ve driven past Biryani Pot a countless number of times. This wee little outlet with its quirky pot-shaped logo resides on Jumeirah Beach Road. biryani pot jumeirah beach road Dubai review by the tezzy files uae food and lifestyle blogger (18)

Hubby is a huge fan of biryani (the much-loved spicy layered pilaf of the Indian subcontinent) and often goes on a biryani binge, trying out the little nooks and crannies of the UAE. He has come to the conclusion that the best biryanis only come from the smallest, most modest of places. Surely one with a jazzy logo sitting on the likes of posh, urban Jumeirah Beach Road will not fit the bill?

I had seen posts of their very innovative quinoa biryani across social media. Intrigued, I decided to drag along my cynical partner and give Biryani Pot a go.

When I walked into The Cavendish, exuding the charms of old-school grandeur (white starched linen, immaculate tableware, a grand piano… the works!), I felt rather out of place. There I was in my ‘Boho meets Soccer Mummy’ getup, a breezy floral tunic paired with super-comfy slacks, when I really should have donned my pearls, red lippie and LBD.

Google has a major part to blame for this wardrobe malfunction. You see, I usually do a Google scan before I visit a new place, and this time round, this trusty search engine spat out a very colourful room that resembles a play pen: Picture16.jpg

When we walked into Yalumba for brunch last Friday, I saw a few tables decorated with balloons and festive streamers. ‘What a lovely day to celebrate a birthday’ I thought. And then as I walked on further, I realized the party vibes were spread throughout the venue. Everyone had balloons and streamers, and fun party props! This looked like just the place to be to start off the weekend on party mode!

Yalumba is an eclectic Australian restaurant located on the Ground Floor of Le Meridien Hotel (Airport Road, Dubai). We tried out Yalumba’s Bubbly Brunch, which runs from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm every Friday, and starts from AED 499 per person inclusive of house beverages and champagne.

The Sharjah Food Festival ended this weekend. The festival is spread across three areas within Sharjah; Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba and Al Montazah. We spent an idle Friday evening at Al Majaz Waterfront courtesy Zomato, and had a great time.

The Sharjah Food Festival has stalls from many well-known brands, and is also a great introduction to a few I have not heard of earlier.
