Zuccero is Italian for sugar, and we were on a sugar-high mid afternoon this Friday! Conceptualized and created by a cupcake dreamer around 5 years ago, Zuccero has long been a cafe favorite among Ajman dwellers and has finally opened a branch in Festival City, Dubai.
Zuccero is all things girly, and I love the shabby chic decor of the premises. From the Parisian stripes in the logo to the very kitsch little decor items lining the little shelves around the parameters, Zuccero provides the perfect setting for a lady-like afternoon tea with the girlfriends.
We caught up with a bunch of foodie friends, and was hosted by the ever so sweet Nairuz Gherfal who has recently taken over as Operations Manager at Zuccero.
Our designated row of tables were heaving with a whole array of stunning cupcakes. They came in various sizes, and pretty much all the colours of the rainbow 🙂
And just look at all the quirky little messages that came on these!
I spotted a cupcake with my name on it!
‘The Tezzy Cupcake’ was Zuccero’s very popular Chocolate Ganache. This is a very dense, moist dark chocolate cake with a very rich, deep chocolate ganache topping.
My little munchkin was in cupcake heaven. She got an adorable ‘Shawn the Sheep’ all to herself, and she gobbled him up in minutes.
Before long, she was starting to attack the other trays of cupcakes in voracious speed. ‘I looove the one with chocolate and nuts Mama!’ (She had around 5 of Zuccero’s Nutella cupcakes, and I was starting to get very, very worried!).
Before her sugar high hit its peak, I was so very thankful for the lovely little children’s story books that lined the shelves of Zuccero. From cupcake monster, she morphed into a bookworm and we could get back to some dignified adult conversation (and savor the remaining cupcakes!).
At Zuccero, they bake their cupcakes from scratch. Its just like home-made, but fancier! You can really taste the difference when fresh ingredients are used sans any preservatives; and because of this, Zuccero products have a maximum shelf-life of only three days from baking.

However, Zuccero is not just about cupcakes. They have a separate drinks menu that includes freshly brewed coffees, teas, juices and delectable shakes. I tried Zuccero’s Red Velvet shake. This is a scrumptious blend of raspberry, fresh milk and cream cheese, and is topped with whipped cream and red velvet crumbs. Its pretty much like sipping a cupcake through a straw! An absolute must-try for Red Velvet fans.
Zuccero also specializes in customized cakes. You dream it, they bake it! Spotted this blooming beauty in their cake display:
And here I am with my #cakehappy foodie clan 🙂
