Named after one of my favorite Mediterranean salads, Tabule, the tangy, fresh parsley medley that often appears as a cold mezze at the start of an Arabic feast, is an authentic Lebanese restaurant set in the picturesque landscape of Roda Al Murooj.

We were there last Saturday to try out their BBQ Brunch, which proved to be both a visual and gastronomical treat. The lush greenery and astute architecture beguiles the mind into thinking you are dining in an exotic location, far, far away from the urban jungle of Dubai.

Meat lovers rejoice! American barbeque specialist Mighty Quinn’s has finally made their debut into the Dubai foodie scene at JBR.

Mighty Quinn’s is not your everyday grill-house. Specializing in slow-cooked, wood fired all-natural meats and poultry, Mighty Quinn’s promises an authentic barbeque experience that was born in the South, and perfected in the Big Apple.

We booked a table there last Thursday, and were in for a real treat. #WowJBR is in full swing, and the entire JBR strip is lined up with interesting market stalls, and in the evenings, there are live performances and activities for kids. With hum-inducing, rhythmic tunes from local band Sandstorm, we decided to go alfresco, right at the edge of all the action.

Rosehip Oil is a bit of a juxtaposition… the bare mention of ‘rose’ might conjure up an overbearingly floral, scented picture but in contrast you have an oil that smells of… well, an oil.

Rosehip Oil is far from rosy, and has a characteristically bright yellow color. Although the oil has been used for beauty since the era of the ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans for its healing properties, it was probably Australian beauty Miranda Kerr who brought it back to the limelight.

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12. When I first turned four-eyed, I thought it was pretty cool and grownup. As I entered my teens I got all self-conscious thanks to the ‘geek’ stigma attached to being bespectacled. I constantly saw the world through stiff, dry contact lenses. Times have changed and goggles are more of a fashion statement now; my view on wearing glasses has had a 360 degree turn.

Girls with glasses are cool! Make the most of your frames, and read on for tips to take your style quotient behind goggles many notches up.

I am a pashmina hoarder. I love collecting these luxuriously hand-woven, elaborately embroidered shawls and with the slight chill in the air, my shawls are finally seeing the light of day.

But what is Pashmina? And what makes it so sought-after? Is it the same as the 10 dirham scarves you find at Carrefour? Read on for an intro into the world of pashminas, on how to find the real deal, and how I incorporate them into my winter wardrobe.

Many a makeup palette are created with inspirations of the season, but rarely have I come across ones that are inspired by an entire city.

NYX Cosmetics has come up with the Wanderlust Lip & Eye Collection that are dedicated to seven major cities around the globe.

There’s one for Los Angeles, Madrid, Paris, London, Coopenhagen, Vancouver… and Dubai!

Thai cuisine, by far, is my all-time favorite. I love the exotic combination of herbs, the delicate chemistry of hot, sour and sweet. I’ve eaten at many Thai restaurants across the city, but this was my very first visit to Tong Thai at JW Marriott Marquis, Dubai.

Walking into Tong Thai is a magical experience in itself. The long, spacious corridors with an eerie dimness reveal a beautifully done up interior complete with larger than life wrought-iron temple bells and cabana-style seating. And just when you think you’ve got a gist of the ambiance, you walk into an expansive space all lit up in the brightness of red lanterns.

There’s something magical about Vida Downtown. I’ve only ever been here in the evenings, and it never fails to amaze me how this space can be all at once chilled out yet classy. Vida Downtown is a cocoon of serenity, a far crying contrast to the gaudy hustle-bustle of neighboring Dubai Mall.

It was a Friday night, and a queue of high-heeled, decked up young ladies lined up for a table at 3in1. The billowing cabanas by the poolside make for an ideal dinner setup, especially on a weekend. I too wanted a table by the pool, but as we had our little one in tow, we decided to sit indoors.

Planning an intimate evening out with a set of close friends? Make the most of the beautifully balmy weather by booking a table on the open roof-top terrace at newly opened Fumo Lounge by Rosso at Amwaj Rotana (JBR, Dubai).

We got there a little past 9 last Thursday. The haloed yellow lighting, the swaying palm trees and an open bar created the perfect, chilled out ambiance I was craving after a long, stressful week of work.
