Meat lovers rejoice! American barbeque specialist Mighty Quinn’s has finally made their debut into the Dubai foodie scene at JBR.

Mighty Quinn’s is not your everyday grill-house. Specializing in slow-cooked, wood fired all-natural meats and poultry, Mighty Quinn’s promises an authentic barbeque experience that was born in the South, and perfected in the Big Apple.

We booked a table there last Thursday, and were in for a real treat. #WowJBR is in full swing, and the entire JBR strip is lined up with interesting market stalls, and in the evenings, there are live performances and activities for kids. With hum-inducing, rhythmic tunes from local band Sandstorm, we decided to go alfresco, right at the edge of all the action.

The menu is concise, and sticks to what they are good at. A blogger friend tells me they do great pancakes for breakfast, but hey! We were here to test out their signature meat.

We kickstarted our meal with a round of very satiating appetizers.

Their ‘Dirty Fritties’ (gotta love the name!) puts good old poutine to shame with cheesy fries that are topped with moreishly good pulled beef and jalapeno.

 

Hubby hoarded the crisp, golden onion rings, that were more like onion bangles given their size. They went down beautifully well with their signature barbeque sauce.

 

My favorite starter was these satisfyingly sticky, mildly smoked and sesame-sprinkled Chicken Wings. With a platter of these infront of you on a beautifully breezy evening, its mighty hard to stop at just one.

 

Mighty Quinn’s also does an interesting lineup of drinks. Living up to their all-American heritage, their menu includes some very tempting milkshakes. The Blueberry Milkshake was deliciously creamy with a slight tang of berry, but my favorite was the Smores Shake. Quite like a frozen hot chocolate loaded with smores, my little one rightly said it tastes like liquid marshmallow with a wash-down of chocolate. Pure bliss!

 

If you’re going for the larger portions of barbeque, I’d advise you to go easy on the shakes.

The Hubster went for Mighty Quinn’s signature Brontosaurus Rib. The name of this dish is so apt given the serving size. This on-the-bone, slow smoked Short Rib with almost a full pound of meat on the rib was a challenge to finish, even by my meat-loving husband.

The meat was glazed with marination, and was deliciously moist and fatty.  The Brontosaurus Rib is served with an assortment of pickled onion, sliced red chili and slaw. You can choose to have it with buns or a side of white rice. I would suggest the later, to make the most of the fatty goodness.

 

 “The approach is simple: source the best quality ingredients we can and donʼt fuss with them too much. We cook our barbeque the old school way with plenty of wood and time, adding just the right amount of salt and spice to let that lovely marriage of process and product evolve into something transcendent. You will find yourself making strange noises while eating our food…” – Mighty Quinn’s.

 

When compared to the mighty Brontosaurus, my order of Beef Brisket looks minuscule in comparison. However, I too went home with leftovers. The brisket is a leaner serving, yet also comes with slivers of decadent fat. The edges are laced with burnt bits that adds to the smokey aftertaste. I loved having this with ample helpings of the pickled onion and red chili.

 

We ended the night with a serving of Bread & Butter Pudding Smores. Yes, there it was again, melted marshmallow, so American and oh so decadently perfect for this gorgeous Dubai winter weather.

 

Overall, Mighty Quinn’s is the newest meaty contender in the Dubai foodie scene and we absolutely devoured their signature dishes.
