I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12. When I first turned four-eyed, I thought it was pretty cool and grownup. As I entered my teens I got all self-conscious thanks to the ‘geek’ stigma attached to being bespectacled. I constantly saw the world through stiff, dry contact lenses. Times have changed and goggles are more of a fashion statement now; my view on wearing glasses has had a 360 degree turn.
Girls with glasses are cool! Make the most of your frames, and read on for tips to take your style quotient behind goggles many notches up.

When exploring a city, I like to take to the streets like a local. Sure, a fancy hotel stay is a much-needed rejuvenating treat but I had under 24 hours to backpack around Guwahati, the capital city of Assam (North East India) and ofcourse it involved a major eatathon!
Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of dining at Tresind (located in Nassima Royal Hotel – Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai), will tell you about their magical cocktails. The drinks at Tresind oftentimes steal the spotlight from the restaurant’s phenomenal dishes. Clever concoctions featuring unexpected blends and the theatricals of molecular gastronomy thrown in, each drink is a unique masterpiece and presented with the exceptionally suave, jaw-dropping pizzazz we have come to expect a la Tresind.
Today I am introducing you to the man behind the magic; Tresind’s very own maestro mixologist, Beverage Manager Sherine John himself. A graduate in Hotel Management from India, John always had a special interest in cocktails and self-taught his way into Tresind cocktail fame.
With summer well and truly here, it’s time to reevaluate the makeup bag. The warmer months have always suited the minimalist look; think barely-there makeup to enhance the features and recreate a flawless, youthfully glowing complexion.
For a daytime look, pretty pastels are in and darker, deeper shades are best saved up for the cooler months. This look requires lightly done eyes, a barely-there lippy, but if there’s one thing you can play up on, its your blush: the perfect ‘flash of color’!
A visit to The Oberoi always manages to transport me back to nostalgic holidays in India. Seeped in Indian hospitality and tradition, the turbaned concierge awaiting guests onto the red carpeted entrance can easily fool the mind into believing we are in India. The dominating Burj Khalifa in the backdrop brings me back to the present; this is The Oberoi set in the dazzle of Dubai.
Given the opulence of The Oberoi, it is pretty much apt that the BBC Good Food award for Best Indian Restaurant (under the ‘fine dining’ category) went to the hotel’s Indian restaurant, Ananta, this year.
My family and I had the pleasure of enjoying a fusion-style three-course dinner at Ananta last Friday.
I never thought going back to school would be so much fun. Beauty school that is!
Lush UAE held a Beauty School event at their Dubai Mall store last night. It was a fabulous evening involving cooking up fresh Lush face masks, enjoying a ‘beauty buffet’ and a pampering facial, and mingling with some of the best beauty bloggers of the region.
