One of the highlights of my stay at Al Ain Rotana a couple of weekends ago was my much-needed pampering session at award-winning Zen the Spa.

Located on the newest wing of Al Ain Rotana, Zen the Spa has won a large number of accolades including nominations at the prestigious World Luxury Hotel Awards for 3 consecutive years since 2016.

If you are following me on Instagram, you might have seen my stories showcasing my experience at The Grove Salons at JLT, Dubai. I don’t think I’ve had such a detailed chat about my hair as I did with their hair magician Cherizeh Gadhiali. She didn’t just give my hair a new color, but brought it to life with a special state of the art Kerastase treatment that gave my dried up ends some much needed TLC.

Loving my new ‘Matte Blonde’ color. Its less on the brazen orange and more on an earthy muted, nearly green tone that seems to work well with my tanned complexion.

If you’ve been following my blog and my social media feeds for a while, you already know I am a huge fan of Neal’s Yard Remedies. Originating from Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden London, this organic skincare brand has been around for over three decades. Love their holistic approach to beauty and their entire library of pure essential oils.

One essential oil that features quite prominently in the Neal’s Yard Remedies range is frankincense. Love the Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Hydrating Facial Mist and would highly recommend their Rejuvenating Frankincense Eye & Lip Serum

And a few weeks back, I was sent the newest addition to the frankincense family, the Neal’s Yard Remedies Intense Lift Cream

I think I’ve found the holy grail for mascaras. It comes in this eclectic hexagonal tube, so akin to everything super-stylish to come out from the ‘Marc Jacobs’ label.

It brings my barely-there lashes to life, like you can actually see them! Thick and luscious sans any annoying clumps with just a single sweep. A second coat gives me the ‘vavavoom’ look of false lashes. I’m talking about the epic Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.

What’s not to love about a good old body scrub-down? I am a body scrub hoarder. I have a collection of body brushes, I whip up homemade scrubs in my kitchen, and tend to buy a whole stack of branded scrubs ranging in scrub-strength.

Have you tried UK skincare brand Soap & Glory before? If you are a regular at Boots Pharmacy, it would be hard to miss seeing their pretty pink products on the shelves. Love their packaging and retro-style branding.

I was recently sent 5 of the best-selling body-scrubs, and asked to declare one as my personal favorite. Each scrub is uniquely different and caters to uniquely different needs so it really was a tough choice (oh the perils of being a beauty blogger… lounging in my tub trying one decadently scented scrub after another!).

I’ve been a peroxide blonde for nearly 3 years now, and pretty addicted to the color. The countdown is on for a recoloring session, but I’m dreading the backlash the chemical cocktails have on my hair. Bleaching strips my hair of natural hydration and gives my ends this hay-like dryness that is definitely never hitting the glam-squad charts any time soon.

I’ve invested heavily in leave-in hair serums and conditioning masks. Most seem to work, but only temporarily. And I find myself dousing my mane with conditioning promises and finishing off bottle-fulls by the week.

I had the pleasure of attending the Fall/Winter 2018 Sephora Middle East press launch last month, and got introduced to Briogeo; a natural hair-care range hailing from New York.

I may be a slacker in many other departments, but when it comes to my bedtime ritual of really cleansing my face, I adhere to it with the staunch religious piety of a newly converted nun.

I cannot fathom the thought of going to bed with even the lightest veil of makeup. Doing so is a cardinal skincare sin, and is akin to marinating your pores in makeup (and you have the after-effects to show when you wake up looking like you’ve had a rendezvous with The Grouch from Sesame Street).

The scent of lavender has long been associated with promoting a great night’s sleep. My fondest memory of the scent of lavender is on the warm, cuddly fur of our family cat Pusula. My father had a large lavender bush in our garden, and Pusula would plant himself in the scented bushes for long, lazy summer siestas. Then somewhere through my night slumber, I’d feel his grubby paws climbing over my sheets and he wold curl up into a ball of fluff, heavily intoxicated with the calming scent of lavender.

Love organic beauty products? Make Neal’s Yard Remedies your one-stop shop. Apart from a gorgeous range of skin, hair care and essential oils of their own, their stores in the UAE also curate and stock interesting organic and natural beauty brands from across the globe.

I recently discovered NOAH, an Italian hair-care range that boasts of not having any chemical nasties like silicones, parabens, paraffin mineral oils, DEA and SLS.
