The waters of Dubai Creek host a wide number of floating restaurants, the majority of which serve up buffets onboard gaudily decked up wooden dhows. Bateaux Dubai is a far cry from the norm. This glass-enclosed air conditioned luxury cruise, complete with a set gourmet menu and live entertainment, makes for a very memorable experience and it is therefore no surprise to learn that Batueax Dubai has been touted as one of the top 10 things to do in our city.

My husband and I set aboard Bateaux Dubai last Friday. Docking time is between 7.45 to 8.15 pm, and the cruise sets asail at 8.30 pm sharp.

Located in the ground floor of trendy new Park Regis Boutique Hotel on bustling Jumeirah Beach Road – Dubai, 21 Grams was my very first introduction to the authentic cuisine of the Balkans.

We had the pleasure of having breakfast here during our stay at the hotel, and I was rather pleased to see this wasn’t yet another expansive buffet where so much food and drink go to waste. Instead, you get to choose a main dish that comes with freshly brewed coffee and squeezed orange juice.

Hooray its Thursday! The weekend is finally here. Looking for dining options tonight? If you are a true-blue seafood fan, I would highly recommend the Seafood Night at Ballaro, the Italian fine-dining restaurant at Conrad Hotel (Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai).

The expansive buffet has you covered with all things seafood, with a wide variety of world cuisines to boot. From sushi to fish & chips, they have something here for even the most discerning diner.

My family and I had the pleasure of spending a weekend at Jumeirah’s newest hotel this month. Trendy new Park Regis Boutique Hotel is quite a stark contrast from what we are used to in the UAE. No expansive lawns or swimming pools, no towering buildings or suited chauffeurs to usher in the traffic.

Instead, you have a trendy, Arabesque 2-storey building at a street corner that can easily be mistaken for yet another villa on the expansive street of Jumeirah Beach Road.

Happy New Year! Today, 16th February 2018, we are entering the Year of the Dog. Like man’s best friend, this coming year promises to be one of loyalty and relationships, and is also believed to be a lucky year for business.

The Noodle House, one of UAE’s best known contemporary chain of restaurants specializing in ‘soul food’ from a diverse range of Asian countries, pays homage to this special occasion with a limited edition ‘Chinese Noo Year’ menu.

It is no secret that Thai cuisine is my ultimate favorite. I love the medley of hot, sweet and sour, and we even have a go at cooking Thai at home several times a week.

While many places serve Thai cuisine in the UAE, a few recipes get lost in translation when more commercial, creamy sauces are used. As a true-blue Thai cuisine lover, I crave the spicy kick of Bangkok streets, and my culinary reminiscing lead me to try out the Thai Street Food Festival at The Backyard (Steigenberger Hotel, Business Bay – Dubai).

The Backyard’s Thai Street Food Festival will run on 3 consecutive Saturdays from 24th February through to 10th March, and will feature live cooking stations featuring the finest from Bangkok street-food, along with beverages, Thai music, karaoke and more.

‘No Stupid People Beyond This Point’ read the large neon signage at the front of newly opened Blaze Burgers on foodie strip, JBR. Passerby’s stop for a giggle and an Insta-worthy click, but the real artistic renditions lie beyond the neon signage where walls are done up in tattoo-style graffiti, a pair of eyes peep out from the pipe-works and an entire shelf of enticing sauces and cutlery are ready for pickup in your very own shopping basket.

Named after one of my favorite Mediterranean salads, Tabule, the tangy, fresh parsley medley that often appears as a cold mezze at the start of an Arabic feast, is an authentic Lebanese restaurant set in the picturesque landscape of Roda Al Murooj.

We were there last Saturday to try out their BBQ Brunch, which proved to be both a visual and gastronomical treat. The lush greenery and astute architecture beguiles the mind into thinking you are dining in an exotic location, far, far away from the urban jungle of Dubai.

14th of Feb is fast approaching. What have your got planned out for your Valentine?
How about a private cabana on the beach, sipping on fine wine while you watch the sunset fade into the lull of the deep blue Mediterranean sea?

Meat lovers rejoice! American barbeque specialist Mighty Quinn’s has finally made their debut into the Dubai foodie scene at JBR.

Mighty Quinn’s is not your everyday grill-house. Specializing in slow-cooked, wood fired all-natural meats and poultry, Mighty Quinn’s promises an authentic barbeque experience that was born in the South, and perfected in the Big Apple.

We booked a table there last Thursday, and were in for a real treat. #WowJBR is in full swing, and the entire JBR strip is lined up with interesting market stalls, and in the evenings, there are live performances and activities for kids. With hum-inducing, rhythmic tunes from local band Sandstorm, we decided to go alfresco, right at the edge of all the action.
