fashion forward 2015What is Fashion Forward? Concluding it’s fifth season this year, Fashion Forward (or FFWD) is a platform for topnotch designers of the Middle East region to showcase their talent.

The catwalk was ablaze all weekend with show-stopping creations by the Middle East’s finest designers, many debuting for the first time round. Each lent a different element of drama to the show. From folklore and fairytales, to new-age symmetry and grunge, FFWD Season 5 was a feast for the eyes.

Happy Songkran!

The Songkran festival marks the beginning of the Thai New Year, and like most cultures the world over, the celebration is marked with a feast of traditional dishes.

Chef Sanya from The Royal Budha restaurant has a special Songkran gift for us. He has agreed to share his award-winning Chili Prawns recipe!Chef sanyaThe Royal Budha’s Wok Fried Chili Prawns is one of the restaurant’s signature dishes. The dish is a play of authentic Thai flavors married in with chili oil and turmeric.

Try Chef Sanya’s recipe in your own kitchen, and invite a taste of Thailand to your table!

I had the pleasure of attending a number of shows at Fashion Forward (Season 5) these past few days, and will be sharing a few glimpses from the shows with you.

In Italian, ‘Per Te’ translates to ‘for you’, an apt name for Jumeirah’s newest Italian restaurant located in Jumeirah 1 (right behind Jumeirah Plaza, Beach Road, Dubai).

per te dubai review

Hubby was skeptical about dining here. In his opinion, Italian cooking is overrated and simply involves massive overdoses of pasta sauce and cheese. Our dinner at Per Te last Friday managed to make him a convert, and he’s been raving about the restaurant all week!

What is the one thing you’d take with you if you were stranded on an island? For me, it would be a gallon (or more!) of organic, virgin coconut oil.

In Sanskrit, the coconut palm is called ‘kalpa vriksha’ meaning ‘the tree that supplies all that is needed to survive’.

Ancient wisdom has been passed down generations, and modern science is finally waking up to the plethora of health-inducing benefits this humble multi-purpose oil provides.

Voted as “What’s On” award 2014’s Favourite Thai Restaurant below Dhs400, The Royal Budha has built an unmatched reputation around their scrumptious Thai cuisine. At 4.5 out of 5, the restaurant also has one of the highest ratings I’ve seen till date on Zomato.

Located in Holiday Inn (Barsha) just minutes away from Mall of the Emirates, we found ourselves at The Royal Budha last Friday for dinner and have been raving about the food ever since.
