Jones the Grocer has long been one of my favorite deli diners in the city, and I only recently discovered they have a branch on the very scenic Flag Island, Sharjah. The Sharjah branch is around a year old, and is far larger than its Dubai counterparts.
Walking into a Jones branch is a delight in itself. I always end up idling a good 20 minutes or so browsing through their shelves of interesting kitchen gadgets, the mad-scientist like coffee apparatus, the rows of gourmet condiments and the cheese room.
Jones the Grocer on Flag Island Sharjah has a dedicated outdoor play area, which is free of cost when you spend AED 20 or more at Jones. I am already planning to revisit for an idle coffee treat while my little one is kept preoccupied there.
Back to the food… Jones the Grocer has added a number of brand new dishes to their menu, and I had the pleasure of trying out quite a few of them.
Jones the Grocer is well-loved for their cheese and cured meat platters, and their latest platter, dubbed the ‘Cured & Curd Platter’ features some of the best the Jones cheese and cured meat rooms have on offer. This generously large platter is perfect for 2 hungry adults and features veal chorizo, truffled salami, smoked duck, Shropshire Blue, Truffled Brie and a dollop of sweet and sour compote to cleanse the palate. Also loved the plump, juicy olives here. What a great way to start off a meal!
From the salads section, the brand new must-try item is the Jones Grilled Steak Salad with Chargrilled Artichoke. I asked for my steak to be medium-rare and chewy, and it went deliciously well with the very aromatic cumin, chili and brown sugar dressing.
From the mains, I would highly recommend the moreishly satiating Creamy Seafood Capellini. The mix of seafood and that thick white sauce is what I’ll be craving these winter evenings. Comfort food at its best.
Love a good burger? Jones the Grocer has perfected the art of gourmet burgers with this decadently cheesy Wagyu masterpiece.
Can you believe we were actually too full for dessert? This gives me the perfect excuse to revisit with my little one. I’m planning to be back for a long, idle cuppa and a decadent slice while my daughter gets free playtime at the kiddie corner. They even have free Wifi, making this scenic new discovery the perfect spot for catching up on my blog posts.
