There are brunches, and then there are Yalumba brunches! Of all the places I’ve dined in Dubai, no one seems to have perfected the art of a Friday Brunch like these Aussie geniuses. Apart from a gastronomic lineup of spectacular food and bubbling bevvies, Yalumba’s latest ‘Brunchology’ includes wacky games and chart-topping music from the ’80’s and ’90’s. Yalumba is the only brunch I’ve been to where random diners get up and dance together!
“Fusing together the Friday atoms, tinkering with the usual brunch molecules… we have mastered the science of brunching! Some call us mad, we prefer… eccentric!” – Yalumba.
The Yalumba Brunchology takes on a mad scientist theme with quirky shots, free-flowing beverages, and a whole lineup of delicious food starting from an extensive cheeseboard, a sushi counter, an entire section of seafood and carved meats… and don’t even get me started on the desserts!
The outdoor space has been transformed into a rustic garden where diners can mingle over quirky games, a buffet of freshly grilled meats that are cooked per request, and very chic beverage stands where talented mixologists come up with personalized drinks of your choice.
I had a go at the Giant Hammer, and failed miserably! And then there was the ‘Spin the Wheel’ where all the diners were called and hosted by our very own celebrity RJ, Elisa from Dubai 92!
My little girl listens to Elisa all the way to school every morning, and was thrilled to meet her favorite Dubai icon 🙂
Tezzy’s Favorites from the Yalumba Brunchology Spread
I am a huge fan of smoked salmon, and was absolutely spoilt for choice at the Yalumba Brunchology. They serve raw salmon in so many different variations! Loved the sashimi, the extensive varieties of sushi, the Baked Salmon with Green Lentils, but my absolute favorite was the Salmon in Salt Crust served with a creamy Lemon Butter Sauce.
The buffet has a very extensive seafood section, and I had many platefuls of fresh oysters doused in Tabasco and squeezes of lemon.
At Yalumba, the salads come in very enticing combinations. I highly recommend the Duck & Pumpkin Salad. Never had this combination before!
Carnivories rejoice! At the Yalumb Brunchology, they have an entire section dedicated to fresh grills done just the way you like it. The Hubster went bonkers over their succulently juicy Lamb Chops, and I was a huge fan of the Beef Medallions served with a pile of Potato Gratin on the side.
And let’s talk about the drinks! Apart from the free-flowing champagne bubblies, Yalumba Brunchology adapts the mad scientist route with very interesting shots that come in syringes.
We had quite a few Tequila Shots, and the cherry on the cake was an enormous Watermelon Vodka mix that came in a watermelon shell.
My absolute favorite was the Burnt Mojitos. Burnt, because the sugar added has been carmelized. Nothing like a refreshing lemon mojito on a sunny afternoon!
My favorite section of the buffet is desserts! I would highly recommend saving space for sweet-treats (which can prove to be rather challenging given the plethora of yumminess at Yalumba). Or perhaps you’d like to start with desserts first? 🙂
My favorites include their Salted Caramel Eclairs, their tangy-sweet Lemon Meringues and the very creamy, chocolate filled mousse that comes disguised as Snow White’s red apple.
Overall, we had a wonderfully laid-back (*sloshed*) afternoon at the Yalumba Brunchology. The party never ends at Yalumba; the brunch runs from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm and you can stay on for the after-party with DJ Kennedy till 7.
There’s no place quite as chilled out as Yalumba. Put on your party hats, groove to great tunes, and delve into a maddeningly gluttonous affair on a Friday of your choice.
A few tables from us was a group of friends celebrating a 50th birthday. Here’s hoping we all get to celebrate our half-century in such a fun-filled environment!
