#ootd Out & About Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

Sunday morning, and I’m back at the start of yet another rigorous week of work. I spent a lovely, fun-filled weekend with the family on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The weather has cooled down significantly, and we enjoyed leisurely walks around the island, did some window-shopping in Yas Mall, and stayed the night at the very futuristic Viceroy hotel.

I kept my outfit comfy and casual, and funked it up with colorful accessories.

Yes, this is the GAP shift dress again. I wore it in my previous post here, and love it for its versatility. The dress is made of comfy, t-shirt style breathable stretchy cotton making it ideal for road trips.

If you’ve been following Tezzy’s Wardrobe posts, you know I have a bit of an obsession with the mystical ‘Hand of Fatima’, or Hamsa as it is better known. It is a Middle-Eastern good-luck charm believed to keep away the evil eye. When I saw this funky fuchsia bag by ‘Funk for Hire’ at Orange Boxy, I knew I had to have it!

The ‘Funk for Hire’ Hamsa bag retails for AED 125, and I got mine from Orange Boxy. It is also available in blue. At closer inspection, the hands on this bag are not exactly ‘hamsa’. The mystical version has two thumbs at each end 🙂

The turquoise leopard-print scarf is from Zara. I was attracted to its colorful, Mexican-style print and it looks so Frida Kahlo to me!

A large scarf is a must-have for a road-trip. Its comes in handy for shading out the sun when in the car. A colorful scarf like this means I can minimize on the accessories I’m carrying as its loud enough to add a splash of color to my simple GAP dress. I also find it very handy by the pool (or beach).

Here’s 3 different ways I used my Zara scarf:

  1. As a Scarf: Duhh! Pretty obvious this one 🙂 It also doubles up as a shawl for the chilling A/C and a cover-up from the midday sun.ootd yas island uae blogger zara scarf funk for hire hand bag hamsa gap dress dubai fashion blogger (1)
  2. By the Pool-Side: Taking two corners of the scarf at opposite ends around the neck, I tied a knot to create a makeshift halterneck dress over my swimwear. ootd yas island uae blogger zara scarf funk for hire hand bag hamsa gap dress dubai fashion blogger (3)
  3. Bolero Scarf: Fold the scarf in half, and tie the two ends of each corner together. Slip your arms through for a funky, one-of-a-kind bolero!ootd yas island uae blogger zara scarf funk for hire hand bag hamsa gap dress dubai fashion blogger (2)

And don’t you just love my shoes?! These are the ‘Sign Me Up Gladiator Flats’ from Nine West, and it took the spotlight on my Instagram feed last night:

Although the ‘Sign Me Up Gladiator Flats’ are also available in a neutral, sober black, I went for these burgundy beauties. The color is so boho and very apt for the fall season.

With funky accessories like these, the only piece of jewelry I wore was my favorite charms bracelet (you can see it in my previous post here), my CK watch and a pair of tiny black-pearl ear-studs. Comfy and colorful is definitely my go-to look for a weekend away!
