I loveBollywood music. I hum it in the shower, play retro remixes in my car, and for areally intense, high adrenaline workout, nothing comes quite close tobhangra-inspired beats. My friends introduced me to ‘Desi Nights’, aka clubbingto Bollywood tunes, and this is how I met DJ Bharat Sakhrani.
An accountant by day and DJ by night, DJ Bharat really knows how to keep the dance floor alight and effortlessly mixes in English, Arabic and other world tunes.
Vote for Bharat! Under 2 years into his night gig, this ultra-talented young man has been nominated for the prestigious title of ‘Best DJ’ at the annual Ahlan Masala Awards. He’s got my vote! Do vote for him by clicking here, and have a read on what he has to say about Desi DJing in Dubai.
Last Thursday we were treated to a culinary and visual treat at newly opened Maison Rouge in Conrad Dubai. As the name suggests, the restaurant cum bar is luxuriously plush in vivid tones of red. Everything looks so theatrical even before the show begins!
We arrived a little before 9, and were ushered in with peppy, upbeat tunes by the live DJ. A well-stocked open bar adds to the ambiance, and you can also get a glimpse of the open-fire kitchen where a lineup of international delicacies are assembled together.
I usually don’t do re-posts of press releases I receive, but this one by Chris Lambert of Q Comms was far too hilarious to store away in my inbox! Located in Marina Byblos Hotel in Dubai Marina, Societe Dubaiis the city’s retro hotspot offering an interesting array of drinks, a spunky retro interior and a playlist of the coolest tunes from the ’80’s, ’90’s and 00 all night long.
Interestingly, the club has accumulated a whole stash of very interesting items that have been left behind by their alcohol-induced patrons. This definitely is a very insightful list!
