Zuccero is Italian for sugar, and we were on a sugar-high mid afternoon this Friday! Conceptualized and created by a cupcake dreamer around 5 years ago, Zuccero has long been a cafe favorite among Ajman dwellers and has finally opened a branch in Festival City, Dubai.

Zuccero is all things girly, and I love the shabby chic decor of the premises. From the Parisian stripes in the logo to the very kitsch little decor items lining the little shelves around the parameters, Zuccero provides the perfect setting for a lady-like afternoon tea with the girlfriends.

logo.jpgTranslate Handwoven Ikat is an Indian fashion and home decor brand that was conceptualized and created by Vinita and Vikas Passary. This unique concept takes traditional ikat weaves, and recreates contemporary wear for women.

‘Translate’ will be showcasing their latest collection at the Numaish Summer Show (at Hotel Conrad, from 29 – 30th April 2016).

I had a chat with co-founder Vinita Passary. Read on to learn more about this eclectic Indo-Western brand, and the summer styles we need to look out for in Summer 2016.

Sandwiched between Grand Habtoor and Le Royal Meridien Hotel in JBR Dubai, I have discovered yet another hidden gem. Cucina Mia is an Italian restaurant owned and operated by Italian Chef Domenico Serra, and is located on the ground floor of Trident Grand Residence (JBR).

‘Cucina Mia’ translates to ‘My Kitchen’, and this very endearing name lives up to its promise of offering unabashedly authentic, homely Italian dishes. But don’t take it from me! I was introduced to Cucina Mia by an Italian friend who vouches that the fare is just like how her Mama does it 🙂 What better way to explore a country’s cuisine than to dine with someone who grew up eating it?

Happy Songkran! 13th April marks the beginning of the 3-day celebration ringing in the Thai new year. Lucky for us, we really don’t have to go buy a ticket to Thailand just yet – Sukhothai, the beautifully decorated Thai fine-dining restaurant located on the 5-star property of Le Meridien (Airport Road, Dubai) is setting up a lavish Bangkok Bazaar, complete with live entertainment and family fun.

Sukhothai’s Bangkok Bazaar is a 3-day event running from 13th – 15th April, and starts from AED 199 per person. I had the pleasure of being invited for a sneak preview of the Sukhothai Songkran menu, and enjoyed every festive bite!

We’ve driven past Biryani Pot a countless number of times. This wee little outlet with its quirky pot-shaped logo resides on Jumeirah Beach Road. biryani pot jumeirah beach road Dubai review by the tezzy files uae food and lifestyle blogger (18)

Hubby is a huge fan of biryani (the much-loved spicy layered pilaf of the Indian subcontinent) and often goes on a biryani binge, trying out the little nooks and crannies of the UAE. He has come to the conclusion that the best biryanis only come from the smallest, most modest of places. Surely one with a jazzy logo sitting on the likes of posh, urban Jumeirah Beach Road will not fit the bill?

I had seen posts of their very innovative quinoa biryani across social media. Intrigued, I decided to drag along my cynical partner and give Biryani Pot a go.

When I walked into The Cavendish, exuding the charms of old-school grandeur (white starched linen, immaculate tableware, a grand piano… the works!), I felt rather out of place. There I was in my ‘Boho meets Soccer Mummy’ getup, a breezy floral tunic paired with super-comfy slacks, when I really should have donned my pearls, red lippie and LBD.

Google has a major part to blame for this wardrobe malfunction. You see, I usually do a Google scan before I visit a new place, and this time round, this trusty search engine spat out a very colourful room that resembles a play pen: Picture16.jpg

NUMAISH®, the UAE’s highly anticipated fashion exhibition covering the season’s most besotted Indian and Indo-Western designer pieces is doing a comeback with a Numaish Summer Show. This time round, it will be a 2-day affair running from 29th to 30th April, and will be held at Hotel Conrad, Dubai (11 am – 9 pm).

I am super excited to announce I have once again partnered up with Numaish as their official blogging partner 🙂 Expect to see quite a few posts on The Tezzy Files covering the eminent designers who will be showcasing their collections at the show.
