I need to get back into shape. My muffin-top is crying out for a revamp. Given the cooler temperature outside, I am running out of excuses to get out there and run… save one. I need new workout clothes! Here is a compilation of images I fell in love with on Pinterest:
Who doesn’t want a dewy, youthful complexion clear of blemishes and tell-tale signs of aging? I for one have scoured the retail isles trying one cleverly marketed pot after the other, and then I discovered Human+Kind.
It all made sense. Why pile up your skin with scary, unpronounceable lab concoctions when you can turn back to nature for a simpler, cleaner answer? Developed in Ireland, Human+Kind takes on a refreshingly simple approach on beauty. I have been using their Anti-Ageing Cream, and this nifty product is a face cream, an anti-aging cream and an under-eye cream all in one. I am not exaggerating when I say I felt my skin tighten on first use. It must have something to do with their key ingredient, Achmella Oleracea aka ‘Nature’s Botox’.

My husband and I are huge Thai cuisine fans, and one of our favourite Thai noodle dishes is Pad Kee Mao.
Pad Kee Mao translates to ‘Drunken Noodles’ and according urban legend, it earned its name for being the perfect cure for hangovers owing to its super spicy sauce base. Pad Kee Mao is essentially flat rice noodles stir-fried in a spicy soya sauce and basil sauce. It was introduced to Thai menus by the Chinese, and has since evolved into a more aromatic Thai delicacy.
I’ve always been a sucker for mythical luck-enhancing talismans and the healing powers of gemstones, so it’s no surprise that I’ve accumulated quite a few pieces of the gorgeous Mediterranean Hamsa jewelry. I wear a tiny silver Hamsa as a charm on my silver bracelet, I have an antique-style Turkish Hamsa ring, and my latest buy is this huge silver Hamsa pendant embedded with semi-precious stones (it’s just under 10 cm in length! I love huge statement jewelry pieces).
I have always enjoyed Bengali cuisine. It must be my East Indian heritage, as Bengali dishes come very close to Assamese delicacies. We love our fiery fish curries as much as the Bengalis, and are also predominantly rice eaters.
Although we are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in the UAE, I have not found many authentically Bengali restaurants in Dubai. Then a friend introduced us to Food Village Restaurant.
I have always favored big bags over small. It makes practical sense in my world. My ideal bag needs to fit in a truckload of things; my wallet, makeup stash, ipad, sunnies, and preferably have a separate compartment with easy access to my phone and keys. It also needs to accommodate sudden trips out with bubby (think baby wipes, water bottles, snacks).
To top it off, it needs to be super stylish and pretty light-weight (I’ve had bags that weigh down on my poor shoulder even when empty).
On the right is a compilation of leather totes I loved from Pinterest. I love the look of worn leather. It has a rustic worn-out charm and manages to look great with anything. The hunt was on, I needed a high quality leather bag that could easily take me from the boardroom to a day out with my toddler.
Beware of the Sikkim Girls. Covered from head to foot, the manage to seduce away husbands with subtle sensual sways.
Sheema Mukherjee, an Indian musician, happened to be on holiday in the picturesque Eastern Indian province of Darjeeling and came across a quaint little eatery called ‘Hot Stimulating Cafe’. It was here she heard of the Sikkim Girls. The café owner told her of their prowess, and how they had managed to steal his daughter’s husband.
It was this rather exotic encounter that inspired Lush’s perfumers Simon and Mark Constantine to create the Sikkim Girls scent.
The scent features sultry floral notes of frangipani, jasmine and tuberose on a sweet base of vanilla. Although the key notes are floral, I would describe it as a heady, sensual, almost musky scent that wears well into the day. It has a spicy undertone that makes it quite grown-up and sexy.
The label features a charming illustration of the sensual Sikkim Girls in red, black and white, and comes in bottles of 0.3 oz. to 3.1 oz.
