Hello Beautiful! How’s the holy month of fasting going for you? Hope you’re staying hydrated and at your radiant best. Hunger is not really a concern for me when fasting (I stock up well in Iftars!), and I’m getting over the thirst issues despite the summer heat by really glugging in my 2 liters post sundown. My greatest challenge is the sleep deprivation.
I get up for suhoor (the early morning meal) at 4 am, diligently do my prayers and keep hitting the snooze button when my alarm cries out its 5.30 am again. Yes, I have a very early morning start given the school run and the traffic to work.
The lack of sleep was creeping up on my face in the form of unsightly dark circles and puffy bags under my eyes, so I thought this would be the perfect time to give the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream a try.
Why Use Under-Eye Creams?
The skin under our eyes is far thinner than the rest of the face. This is therefore the area most prone to wrinkles and the first signs of aging.
Daily moisturizers tend to be too heavy for this delicate skin, and we therefore need to take heed and look out for high-quality under-eye creams especially as we grow older.
An Introduction to the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream:
American skincare brand Origins has built a repute for their naturally inspired range, and this eye cream has been getting rave reviews for its multi-tasking abilities.
The Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream is a small yet mighty tub of under-eye loving goodness that targets a list of common concerns in one shot (or dab). The formulation promises to:
- Hydrates and refreshes delicate under-eye skin
- Brightens dark circles
- Depuffs under-eye bags
- Diminishes fine lines and wrinkles
Best of all, the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream is suitable for all skin types.
Key Ingredients:
Caffeine: Caffeine acts as a stimulant and works wonders at plumping the skin and diminishing the appearance of under-eye bags and fine lines.
Ginseng: This is the key ingredients in the entire Origins Ginzing range. Ginseng is rich in phytonutrients, a major ally in combatting premature aging. Ginseng also improves the overall complexion by evening out skin redness, hyperpigmentation and reducing dullness.
Hyaluronic Acid and Shea Butter: to deeply hydrate and plump the skin.
How to Use the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream:
Take a pea-sized amount on your ring finger and gently dab on clean, dry skin under the eyes. I always use my ring finger under the eyes as this finger has the least amount of pressure. Always use gentle movements under the eye to avoid tugging at the delicate skin. If you have an eye-roller, it will make application far smoother and faster.
I use this under-eye cream as a ‘morning after’ treatment to cover up my poor sleep patterns. It can be used both day and night.
Why I Love the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream:
- This creamy, peach-tinted formulation has a slight pigment that instantly helps to brighten the under eye, while other ingredients work to improve the area over time.
- The formula is rich and creamy, yet sinks into the skin effortlessly, making it very usable during the day, under makeup.
- I’ve been using this under-eye cream for over a month now and can vouch for the effectiveness of the key ingredients. My lack of sleep is well-disguised with this wee miracle in a pot.
- The Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream combats an entire list of common under-eye concerns in one shot. Gotta love a multi-tasker!
The Not So Good:
The Origins skincare brand is a ‘naturally inspired’ range, meaning all their products harness the goodness of nature, but they also mix in a number of synthetic ingredients that are vouched to be safe.
This under-eye cream contains two different silicones, as well as butylene glycol, both of which raise eyebrows within the green community.
Silicones, butylene glycol and propylene glycol all act as skin conditioners and texture enhancers in this formula, making the overall product feel great and absorb well on contact with skin.
Silicones actually come from sand, which is why you can sometimes find them in green beauty brands, since they are technically naturally derived. The only reason that some choose to avoid them is that they can be sensitizing to some and may clog pores.
Glycols on the other hand are avoided by some due to their origin. Propylene glycol and butylene glycol can be petroleum derived so if you try to avoid petroleum based products in your skincare, this may not be the best fit for you.
Product Pricing & Availability:
The entire Origins range is exclusively available across all Sephora stores in the Middle East. You can also buy it online from sephora.ae
The Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream retails for AED 109 for a 10ml tube, and AED 145 for a 15ml pot.
