This week I was invited for an art class by none other than Atlantis, The Palm Dubai. Intrigued, I accepted despite having yet another crazy week at work. It was on a Monday night, and I was almost going to skip it, but so glad I didn’t! Who would have thought an artist’s easel and canvas can be so therapeutic?
Yet this is not your ordinary art class! Located in The Lost Chambers Aquarium of Atlantis The Palm, I am not exaggerating when I say this was an ‘out of the world’ experience.

The interiors have a muted lighting to set the mood. My mind was already in a spa-like zen, and add to it the aquatic beauty of the aquarium that takes up every portion of the surrounding walls.
What better inspiration can an artist ask for? No points for guessing the art theme of the night… ofcourse we were all doing ‘under the sea’ themed art!
The event was hosted by an artist who gave us a crash course on the complexities of water versus acrylic paint, and we even got to experiment with the paint and salting method.
I felt like I was back in at class in junior school! But this was a far more grownup, sophisticated version… Complete with endless flutes of wine and pretty little canapes, Art & Grape Under the Sea is a wonderfully different experience you really have to try.
The classes will be formally available to the public from Monday 17th April, and will be priced at AED 395 per person for a 2 hour class.
If you, like me, are looking for a more innovative way to destress other than retail therapy and dining out, I suggest you give this a go. You might just unlock a Picasso in you!
And without much ado, here’s my masterpiece 🙂
