14th Feb is just 4 days away! Where are you heading this Valentine’s? If its variety you seek, Nassima Royal Hotel is an ideal dining destination to consider. We were invited for the Valentine’s Day preview at their all-day buffet dining restaurant Celsius, yet the wonderful team had more in store for us than a lavish spread.
In true V-Day spirit, we were teamed together with our better halves to have a go at cake icing. Heart-shaped Red Velvet cakes were placed on every work station, and the Chef helped us slice it horizontally, and pipe in the icing. We tried our hand at rosette swirls, and I think our cake had more cream than cake!
Celsius restaurant is coming up with a Cooking Class concept, and this is surely going to be a hit with all novice Chefs. For more details, keep watching this space!
Before we sat down for dinner, we chilled at Tre Bar & Lounge. Located on the 51st floor of Nassima Royal Hotel, Tre has the ambiance of a suave, sophisticated club. With floor to ceiling glass windows all around, the breathtakingly panoramic views of the city makes for the perfect backdrop to chill and relax with a wide selection of drink options. Perfect for a date night with a Valentine you really want to impress!
After a few leisurely drinks and animated conversations with the mixologist at the bar (I was trying to get the Dry Martini recipe out of him!), we headed back downstairs to Celsius.
Celsius offers an elaborate buffet spread, and the theme changes on a daily basis. For Valentine’s Day, the buffet is going all-out Indian and they have you covered with enticingly interesting creations that take inspiration from different culinary corners of India.
It’s not every day that you find exotic dishes like Spicy Banana Flower Salad, or a Cucumber Raita Coated Steamed Salmon (one of my favorites from the night). I also had two generously large servings of their Mutton Rasam, a soulfully meaty, moreish soup with a spicy tomato base.
A large platter of Mixed Grills was presented on our table. From succulently soft bites of Tandoori Chicken, cilantro-infused fillets of fish and aromatically spiced Arabesque meat, this platter had something to please everyone. My personal favorite was the fish; absolutely ‘melt in the mouth’ delicious!
However, the highlight of the night was the dessert counter. We were eyeing these beautiful creations even before we hit our mains (and the Hubster actually ate a few eclairs before his soup!).
A wise person once said ‘Life is too short, eat dessert first!’ At a buffet restaurant like Celsius, you can actually do this without anyone questioning otherwise 🙂
They even have a white chocolate fountain, aptly tinted a pretty pale pink! My little girls would love this.
