This was our second visit to Flavours on Two, the buffet-style restaurant that offers different cuisine themes on a daily basis. Over a month ago, we were at their Asian Twist Night, and were mighty impressed with their value-for-money spread that includes both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.
Last weekend, we decided to give their Friday Brunch a try and although we are huge fans of Asian cuisine, this international spread surpassed our previous visit, hands down!
Flavours on Two is located in Towers Rotana (Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai), and the restaurant is on the second floor (hence the name!). Their Friday Brunch costs AED 185 with unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, and AED 225 with unlimited house beverages. Children under 12 dine for free.
I loved the sushi and raw seafood counter from Flavours on Two’s Asian Twist Night, and it was here again at the Friday Brunch.
I started my meal with a plate piled high with beautifully fresh oyster, an array of sushi and maki rolls, and a generous helping of smoked salmon. While doing so, I was sipping a freshly made lemon-mint juice on the side. What a treat to get my Friday rolling!
We were seated by the window with views of Sheikh Zayed Road, but from up here, digging into all this delicious grub, even the Dubai traffic looks serene!
I could have easily satiated myself at the raw bar, but this curious foodie had to have a peek into the rest of the extensive buffet on offer at Flavours on Two’s Friday Brunch.
The buffet here is truly international, and covers delectable dishes from Western, Indian, Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Even the pickiest of eaters will find something to really pig out on at this brunch.
At the Flavours on Two’s Friday Brunch, they have a live cooking station that does customized Mongolian-style stir-fries and barbecues. You get to choose the protein of your choice, and add a whole array of vegetables and sauces to suit your taste-buds.
My husband asked for a whole mix of proteins, and challenged the chef to make his extra spicy hot. It was infact a good deal more spicier than the fiery red colouring it took on! My bowl of stir-fried Mongolian beef (as seen on the right below) is by comparison, baby food!
At the Flavours on Two Asian Twist Night, they had a shelf full of assorted desserts ranging from cakes, pastries, cheesecakes and even Indian mithai. This counter is also included at the Friday Brunch.
However, walking a few steps down, I turned into an excited 12 year-old when I discovered their Chocolate Fountain!
Who says chocolate fondues are bad news? It’s the easiest way I know of making my 4 year-old gobble up a whole plate of fruit!
They also have two granita dispensers; one offering a vanilla granita and the other a berry concoction. You can mix and match these to create a parfait of your own with a whole range of toppings.
Here is what I created! #omnomnom
But what makes the Friday Brunch at Flavours on Two so ‘family friendly’? They have it all planned out for families with young children!
On Fridays, they open up a separate room adjacent to the buffet area that has been transformed into a play room.
My little tot had loads of fun crawling in and out of the giant caterpillar, and this room even has a child-friendly buffet on offer! They have nuggets and pasta, and chocolate cookies. Surely this brainchild comes from a mummy on the Flavours on Two team!
Grownups can relax and have a few extra drinks knowing the kids are being taken care of.
Given the relaxed ambience sans a fussy toddler, we ended up sitting well past 3 hours at Flavours on Two. What a lovely way to spend a lazy, laidback Friday noon.
What are you doing this Friday? See you at Flavours on Two!
