When it comes to ice-creams, Scoopi Café has upped the game from child’s play to designer dreams. Living in Dubai, you get used to everything big, bling and exorbitant, and just when we thought we’ve seen and heard it all, Scoopi Cafe’s founder and owner, Zubin Doshi creates headlines with Scoopi’s Black Diamond Ice-Cream.

Priced at AED 2,999 a scoop, this has to be the world’s most expensive ice-cream indulgence! The Black Diamond has an exotic Madagascar vanilla ice-cream base. It is infused with the world’s most expensive Iranian saffron and ‘black diamond’ black truffles, and garnished with 23 carat edible gold. If that wasn’t enough, this dreamy, elite blend is aptly served in a designer Versace bowl along with a matching designer spoon which the buyer can take home as a keepsake.

Often the best food comes from the most modest of restaurants, and this is especially the case when it comes to a really good, masala-infused biryani.

One of our favorite old haunts for biryani is Mezbaan Hyderabad Restaurant. Located in the busy hub of central Bur Dubai, this is the chain’s very first outlet. The restaurant itself is cramped, stuffy and rather shabby from all the years it has been in operation, but this does not keep the impressive string of regulars from coming back for more.

We were at Mezbaan last night. Despite it being a weekday, we were lucky to get a table.

Conceptualized and created by well-known (and rather controversial) Italian restaurateur Paolo Roberto Rella, TRE is an Italian fine-dining restaurant located in Nassima Hotel (Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai).

TRE is ‘three’ in Italian, and the restaurant gets its name from the fact that it is divided into 3 separate levels, and spans from the 49th to the 51st floor. The first (or rather, 49th floor) is the dining area for foodies. It has a more casual restaurant vibe allowing for families and friends to socialize over great food and spectacular views of Dubai. It is the only floor at TRE where children are allowed.

The 50th floor is a lounge bar, complete with a resident DJ and an impressive array of Mediterranean-inspired tapas. The 51st floor is a sound-proofed cigar lounge with live jazz performances and soft rock.

One more sleep to 2016! How are you celebrating?

Given the number of exceptionally good desserts I’ve had the pleasure of forking in to in the last few months, 2015 has been a pretty ‘sweet’ year.

Here is a list of my top 10 favorite desserts from 2015:

When I received a dinner invite to try out BiCE Mare’s special truffle menu, I was over the moon! Who can resist truffles?!Picture23.jpg

Top that with renowned Italian Chef Leonardo Maltese acting as host and a beautifully chic venue boasting of Burj fountain views, my dinner date with BiCE Mare this week was nothing short of gastronomic brilliance.

Many a weekend, we find ourselves aimlessly driving around Dubai rediscovering favorite nooks and crannies, and often ending up eating an elaborate meal at a brand new joint.

My husband and I have a special ritual for ending these star-studded, feast-filled nights. Being avid tea drinkers, we look up late-night tea stalls. These are the tiny little shops lining major highways, or tucked inside residential pockets. The tea is ever flowing, often spiced up with cardamom, and costs a mere 1 dirham per cup. It’s the perfect, soul-warming sip for ending a gastronomic outing.

During the Christmas weekend, we found ourselves lost in the urban jungle of Karama and the kitsch twinkling of multi-coloured tealights at a roadside vendor caught our attention.

Here I am, back at my office desk after an indulgently good 3-day weekend. The last three days have been brimming with Christmas cheer, delicious treats and over-sleeping.

On Christmas eve, we crawled out of bed just past noon, and had a major craving for a hearty brunch. Being avid foodies, both Hubby and I were game on trying out a completely new place. We’ve heard many good things about Crumble All Day Eatery (aka Crumble Café), and decided to drive down to check them out.

When husband-wife duo Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman opened their very first Clinton Street Baking Company in New York City, little did they know of the phenomenal success that was awaiting their simple yet scrumptious creation. Neil’s blueberry pancakes have been voted the best in the city twice over by New York Magazine, and it was only a matter of time before they hit the Dubai foodie scene.

Clinton Street Baking Company is tucked away in the residential nook of Burj Views, Dubai and has created some serious noise in the foodie scene. Zomato reviews rave about their all-day breakfast menus, and when I saw images of their 15-hour smoked beef ribs, I was at their table in no time!

You can see the regality of St Regis Dubai from miles away. Recently opened on the 20th of November this year, the architectural brilliance of this hotel is nothing short of spectacular.

From the palatial exteriors boasting of a glamorously lit up driveway, to the spacious marbled foyer showcasing spiraling golden stairways, a visit to St Regis is like reliving the glam of the fifties and reminds me of the luxurious backdrops from The Great Gatsby.
