I love all things Shabby Chic. The pastels, the attention to the finer details… the French have immaculate taste for interiors, as they do for the art of cooking. Both elements come together in newly opened ‘Maison de Juliette‘, a home-grown concept now open in La Mer Dubai.
The interiors here are so Instagram-worthy, and even the staff here are immaculately dressed. We got there one breezy weekday, and decided to make the most of the beautiful weather by seating on a table outdoors.
The outdoor patio has this gorgeous rustic charm, as you can see from my photos and I got pretty click-happy even before we had a scan of the menu.

The menu here isn’t overly extensive, they stick to what they’re good at. We started our evening with piping hot bowls of soup.
The Hubster went for the classic French Onion Soup. The soup was a decadent deep earthy caramel brown, and scented with burnt onion. The amount of cheese in this soup was just right, without overpowering the delicate flavor of the onion.
I had the Pumpkin Soup. This freshly blended cooked pumpkin mix tastes deliciously wholesome, and I loved it even more with a few sprinkles of cracked pepper.
For our appetizers round, we had an Italian-inspired bite of Burata-topped crustini drizzled with fresh pesto and cherry tomatoes. The portion sizes here are pretty generous, and this serving can easily double as a main-course.
Maison de Juliette also does very refreshing mocktails that are made of special blends of freshly squeezed juice. My husband went for the Passionfruit, which he found to be a little too sour for his liking. However I loved my Strawberry Lemonade, its as pretty as it is delicious with its balance of sweet and sour. And how gorgeous are the glasses?!
For the main-course, my husband went for the Grilled Steak Sandwich (I can’t seem to get the man to order anything without the word ‘steak’ in it!). At Maison de Juliette, the steak is served in a rustic French baguette and enhanced with whole-grain mustard, chives sauce and caramelized onion.
My main-course was probably the highlight of the evening. I ordered Maison de Juliette’s Signature Seafood Gnocchi, a seafood lover’s dream come true served with French panache. This dish comprises of homemade gnocchi served with satisfyingly fresh, plump pieces of Halibut, shrimps, scallops and mussels and doused in a very special seafood bisque. This dish is not only visually appealing, but tastes great too. Comfort food at its best.
Nobody does dessert like the French, and Maison de Juliette is a haven for French desserts. It was a tough call choosing just one out of the many in their very enticing smorgasbord.
I went for the classic Millie Feuille. Love the enticing layers of crunch and cream, and Maison de Juliette does a brilliant job with the freshest of ingredients and Insta-worthy presentation.
