Pind Da Dhaba is a delightfully quirky little Punjabi joint located in Karama, Dubai. We were hosted by the lovely Deepti Chandak from the Jive with Deepti blog, and literally drowned ourselves in the most delicious lineup of lassis!
Lassi, the quintessentially Punjabi yoghurt smoothie, takes on a whole new lineup of unexpected avatars at Pind Da Dhaba. Served in traditional Kulhars (disposable Indian clay cups), the lassis cost a mere AED 12 each, and you really are spoilt for choice with a total of 12 innovatively different varieties.
Yes they do the traditional Kesar Lassi and Mango Lassi… but have you ever had Green Mango Lassi? The mild tanginess of raw mango makes this one refreshingly different.
If you are into berries, you can take your pick from Strawberry, Redberry and even Lychee Lassis. I really liked their Coconut Lassi and Bubblegum Lassi, but by far the favorite across our table was Pind Da Dhaba’s Paan flavoured Lassi! Who would have thought up this flavour in a lassi?! It manages to work so brilliantly well, that the restaurant also does a Paan Kulfi!
Pind Da Dhaba’s Paan Kulfi was also the ultimate crowd pleaser from the six varieties of kulfi they have on the menu (yes we ate through the entire lassi and kulfi menu!). From the lineup of Kulfis, we started off with traditional favorites, the Mango Kulfi and the Malai Kulfi. The later was my favorite, only second to the Paan.
The little ones bonded over all this sweetness, seated in an adorably cute little makeshift Indian autorickshaw.
Any guesses which Kulfi went down best with my little one? Chocolate ofcourse!
We were also served Lamb Kathi Rolls. Unabashedly spicy and loaded with meat, this was a welcome change from all that sweetness.
At Pind Da Dhaba they make their very own pickles, and I absolutely loved their Mixed Vegetable Achar, especially the tangy-hot bits of radish.
Lassi and Kulfi… what a great way to #BeatTheHeat this summer? 🙂 Pind Da Dhaba’s innovative twists on two of Punjab’s best-loved treats are just as fun and quirky as the restaurant’s interiors. Love the restaurant’s cute little Indian-inspired detailings including the vintage Bollywood posters, the ‘dhaba’ teapots and bottles, and the North Indian truck references (Gudiya Transport anyone?!).
Go on, drown yourself in a whole new lineup of lassis, and indulge in their absolutely divine Paan flavoured kulfi while you’re at it 🙂 Pind Da Dhaba is located behind Jumbo Electronics in Karama, Dubai. For table reservations, give them a call on 04 3885333. #BeatTheHeat
