ahlan masala awards best asian blogger 2015

So I didn’t win the ‘Best Asian Blogger’ title, but am super flattered to be nominated among the top 5 ✌ . Congrats Lokesh Dharmani from the F by Lokesh blog, so very well deserved.

Thank-you Ahlan! Masala for yet another fabulous #masalaawards2015 event, had so much fun! Met one of my favorite Bollywood stars, Simi Garewal (she’s even lovelier in person!) and even had a quick chat with the stunning Jacqueline Fernandes backstage! Oh and that’s me giving away an award for best lounge in Dubai (congrats AKS Nights!).

The Masala awards makes me feel like a celeb and loved getting a chance to dress up Desi (Indian). Will be posting an outfit post real soon, so stay tuned!

I was invited to the annual Lafayette Gourmet Food Fest 2015 that was held last Thursday, and the event was populated with the media, UAE food bloggers, and food enthusiasts.

The 3-day fest is on its fourth year running, and is being held at Galeries Lafayette, The Dubai Mall. It runs from Thursday 17th September to Saturday 19th September, and is loaded with exciting tastings, foodie workshops, and entertainment for the entire family.

The event was hosted by local and internationally renowned chefs, and I had the pleasure of tasting some gourmet dishes from around the globe. This post is a photographic tour of my experience.

Sheraton Dubai Creek is one of the city’s oldest hotels, located by the picturesque creek, Deira – Dubai. It’s Indian restaurant has been reinvented with a touch of stardom in the past year; Michelin stars that is!

Ashiana restaurant’s menu has been recreated by Chef Vineet Bhatia who happens to be the only Indian chef to have acquired a 3 Michelin Star rating, and our dinner at Ashiana by Vineet was a wonderful journey into sampling the magic of this culinary maestro.

Eid Ul Fitr is the festive ending to a month-long devotional month of fasting on the Muslim calendar. With just over 2 weeks to go, it would be a good idea to start planning out the Eid wardrobe and avoid the maddening pre-Eid retail rush.

For Eid, I love playing ethnic dress-up. There’s something magical about traditional Indian attire. The bright clashes of color, the heavy embroidery and the majestic use of chiffon and silk add feminine grace to any silhouette. However, I for one do not get many opportunities to dress up completely ethnic. I prefer Indo-Western; the marriage of somber Western cuts with a spark of Indian fiesta can be carried off for other occasions beyond Eid, hence giving me more wear per buy. Today’s post is a pictorial wishlist of Indo-Western outfits I have shortlisted. Wishing I could own them all!

The Hub 7 is the latest addition to the JLT foodie scene. Located in Cluster M on the ground floor of Icon Tower 1, the restaurant owes its name to the seven styles of cuisine being offered.

The seven styles under Hub 7 are: Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Italian and a Bakery section.

We had the pleasure of visiting The Hub 7 last week, and were probably one of their first guests at their innovative Japanese teppanyaki table!

Zafran is ‘saffron’ on an Arabesque tongue.

Saffron, the most prized of spices, the sacred color of sadhus, and a shade that takes up a third of the Indian flag, is the inspiration behind this trendy contemporary Indian restaurant.

Having passed Zafran in Mirdiff City Centre a number of times during hurried shopping sprees, we’ve been meaning to give this branch a try for a while now. The interior decor looks so trendy and inviting! My little family and I finally made it there last Saturday.
