How to Wear Beachwear to Work

Would you wear beachwear to work? I am willing to wear a swimsuit to work, go on and dare me! Crazy as it may sound, with the right pieces and a few creative wardrobe edits, it really is possible to take poolside fun to the boardroom! I spent a really fun, girlie afternoon raiding the personal closet of Anisha Lalani, founder and designer behind the very spunky beachwear label Blue Ink Beachwear.

It’s not every day that you get to play around in the walk-in closet of a fashion designer, and joining me was the absolutely stunning PR maven Rosa Bullock. Anisha helped us choose a variety of key Blue Ink pieces, and let us go crazy mixing and matching it up with her wardrobe essentials. Whether you have to dress up prim and ‘corporate’ proper, or can get away with a little quirk at work, we have come up with a few fun, fashionable looks you can try out for yourself (and trust me, no one will even second guess you’re wearing beachwear to work!).

Blue Ink Beachwear has everything you need to keep you looking fashionably up to date by the pool or the beach. From swimwear showing off the most stunning of prints to kaftans and maxi dresses, Blue Ink is a brand that prides itself for showcasing the beauty of real women, be it a size 8 or a 20.

For the work-appropriate look, all three of us decided to wear Blue Ink Beachwear’s Ibiza one-piece swimsuit. Anisha tells us this gorgeous piece is by far the most popular swimsuit from the collection, and comes in two colours; Blanca (a pearlesque white) and Oro (a shimmery metallic grey).

This swimsuit is made of a very special material called ‘Jet Crystal Print’ which gives the suit a beautiful shimmer. The material is also very comfortably stretchy and breathable, making it very flattering on any size and shape, and gives the illusion of a flatter, firmer torso.

A lioness print seemed so appropriate for the corporate jungle! Be the queen of the daily drill, and wear this swimsuit under pants and a blazer.

This is Rosa and me, wearing the identical Ibiza swimsuit, but with different styles of blazers and bottoms. I am wearing it with skinny jeans and an olive blazer. Rosa wears hers with white pants and a suede brown cardigan.

One statement piece, two very different looks! Mixing and matching the accessories also gives the same outfit a new breath of life. Try the look with different bags, belts and shoes.

Rosa wears hers with peeptoes wedges (nearing six feet, she really doesn’t need any heels, but girls will be girls!), and I wear my look with nude pointy pumps. I am trying to find a photo of Rosa in her ‘work’ look that shows her wedges, but her enviously long, lean legs crop out of the frame every time!

And don’t you just love Rosa’s buckled tanned leather belt? This is one of those signature wardrobe pieces that never go out of style.

I wear mine with a braided belt, looped together to shorten the length.

But wait till you see Anisha… I absolutely love, love her work look! She’s paired the Ibiza swimsuit with these really eye-catching black and white palazzo pants, and a sleeveless black vest.

For add contrast, Anisha carries a chirpy bright Gucci clutch.

The vertical stripes on the palazzo pants add the illusion of length, and are also super comfy for summer.

For va va voom oomph, Anisha completes her look with killer spiked heels.

These 3 looks can take you from work to play… and even the pool! The possibilities are endless. Mix and match, and come up with a new look every day of the week (with just one swimsuit)!
